When you run a commercial web site, and by that I mean with the purpose of selling services to businesses, a strange thing happens at the end of November. The enquiries tend to slow down and stop completely by the end of the first week in December. The business world doesn't stop for Christmas of course, but individual managers do delay their purcha...
Well what a day. Not only did I receive a business enquiry, but also a domain enquiry, resulting in a sale of a name in the £x,xxx range. All in all a great start to the new year and I never even left the house.David-Carter.com is a free Internet Marketing site.
Well, you already know what I am about to write about, right?
There is a great deal of controversy brewing regarding yesterday's launch of??Mystery Domain Auction.
It appears that John Motson had hyped his "Domaining Revolution" project way too much and never really pointed out that the so called domaining revolution project was hardly any SHARET...
Anyone in North America (and eventually the world) who wants to park a domain can now go directly to Google and bypass the parking companies. Does that mean they are history? Here is our take plus comments from Rick Schwartz on this potentially game changing development.
The success of many domain and website owners is based on online ad spending. While ad budgets in general will be slashed in 2009, most experts agree that one medium will grow while the others all decline. A new article in BusinessWeek Magazine explains "Why Online Ads Are Weathering the Recession."

It is now day 2 of the "so called" Revolution created by John Motson and I wanted to share my two cents. I would have given my full opinion yesterday but I was upset about the launch and didn't want to say anything without at least taking it in and processing everything. Well, now here
It has been 24 hours since the launch of the mystery domain auction and boy have we seen a reaction from the web community at large!
First and foremost, the auction got off to a great start with bidders placing 236 bids in the first 24 hours (at the time of writing this) totaling up to $235.85 with the current high bid of $2.02 placed by a Colon Cl...

I have been testing the Mystery Domain Auction affiliate program with a couple of volunteer participants and having determined that it is operational, the feature has gone live.
As I state on the front page of the site and in the faqs, I aim to auction off the mystery domain name for an accumulated $1,000,000 - I don?t intend to keep all the money ...
The MysteryDomainAuction/DomainingRevolution has caused an incredible amount of blogging action over the past 24 hours that I thought I should answer some of the questions asked by various folks - most pointedly in the NamePros thread.
First and foremost, why is this a "domaining revolution"? A lot of people are disagreeing with me - saying that th...

Here are my five New Year's resolutions for 2009.

My take on MysteryDomainAuction.com.
John Motson of DNxpert.com launched his MysteryDomainAuction.com web site yesterday, and a blogging firestorm ensued.
But before I get into that, let me tell you the back story. About a month ago Motson e-mailed me to say he was now giving away his eBook about domaining that he previously offered
As an entrepreneur and someone who donates to a wide variety of charities, I can't help but notice when companies do things that are right. In fact, I go out of my way to support such companies, which is why I'm posting this.
Name.com just had a promotion where $.50 from every .ORG registered until 12/31/08
So the time has come when you once again have to train your brain it's no longer 2008 and you have to write 2009. If you are a developer or have sites that are developed, now's the time to change your © to 2009 in your footers if it doesn't auto update.

Since domain name offers have been few and fair between in 2008, I didn't expect to even work today (Friday) with the ending of the Holiday season and the weekend around the corner. I did work, because I felt that it was the right thing to do. Keep pushing forward, getting the word out etc.
Now
For the Chinese it was the year of the Rat, and the year they hosted one of the best Olympics ever.
In domaining, China has seen significant growth in its ccTLD, the dot CN. This emerging superpower is pulling out all the stops to be dominant in almost every sector.
As for the Western world, Gordon Brown,
One of the downsides of using a "static" website for Lowell.com and Burbank.com was that they don't automatically come with RSS feeds built in to them like platforms such as Wordpress.? The options I had were to create one by hand or to purchase a program/script that automatically creates a feed and updates it.? As
I just finished writing up my analysis of the Mystery domain auction that's been commented upon by just about everyone in the domain space. I didn't feel like blogging about it, so I just decided to voice my opinion on the domain forum, NamePros. I don't post there often but visit on occasion
Looking around the web you see some well thought out sites on premium names that are a great asset to their owners. But there are also some sites built on names that are innocent at first glance, then you dig a little deeper and you find that innocent name has an entirely different meaning. Anyway, you should have a good laugh when you see some of ...
A couple of week ago, I did an unbiased review?on AEIOU.com, a popular mini-site creator. There was a lot of feedback and response from my readers. Notably, I was schooled on the significance of the meaning of the domain name.
One other thing I noticed was that a lot of mini-site designer kept telling me how

A man sat at a metro station in Washington DC and started to play the violin; it was a cold January morning. He played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, since it was rush hour, it was calculated that thousand of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. Three minutes w...

Day 2 of the domaining revolution, now revealed as the Mystery Domain Auction, is upon us. It appears the bidding frenzy of day 1 has slowed a bit. My .45 cent bid yesterday was outbid before I got the confirmation. Today, bidding has been relatively slow and has been sitting at slightly over $2.00 for
