DN Journal's annual State of the Industry Cover Story has just been published. After 4 years of robust growth the domain business hit stormy weather in 2008. Parked.com introduced a new account management system today. In the past each client had just an account rep. In the new system every customer gets an entire Account Management Team with each team including an account manager, a domain optimizer and, in what may be a parking company first, a developer.
Most people create a mini-site and think they are done. If you want to make money then you're not. Sorry but in most cases money will not just flow into your bank accounts once the mini-site is created.
I myself am guilty of this so don't feel bad. I create a mini-site, add my Google AdSense
I was going through some of my Sedo sales before heading to bed and noticed a domain name I just had to post about.? It's late though and the sale doesn't end for a few hours, I will be sure to post the results in the morning.
In the mean time…
Wedo, an obvious typo for Sedo
There is a huge difference between 5 letter domains and 4 letter domains. Earlier in 2008, I used to be a big investor in LLLL.com's. Right before the LLLL.com market crashed, I got out of the market, made my fair share, and got into keyword domaining. Since then I have been keyword domaining, until about
Twitter is leading the social media revolution - while I hate to use these buzzwords, it's true. Twittter is setting a standard for how we communicate and interact online so Domainers are a going to be impacted whether they like...
I read an interesting post in Elliot J Silver's blog about a recent UDRP case lost by former eBay CEO, Meg Whitman.
I'm not a lawyer, and I don't play one on TV, but after reading some quotes from the panelists that made the decision to deny the complain (without the respondent even offering a rebuttal),
A bit of domain name satire to get you going this Monday morning.
$4.25 million? That's extortion!
[This past weekend I came across one of those web sites blaming parked domain names for all that ills the internet. The site used the typical logic: parked domains are unused, and it's not fair that someone who will
Will we see domain name companies go bust in 2009?
It's capitalism at its best. Circuit City is being liquidated after failing to find a buyer. Linens ‘n Things is finishing up the liquidation process (I wonder when they'll sell the LNT.com domain?).
And that's how it's supposed to be. Weak companies fail, strong...

Over the past week or so I've observed a number of premium names in the drop process. While not unusual I was surprised at how low they went for.
I've always maintained that now is a great time to buy domains. Those that are focused on the short term (or need cash to pay off their
I am all ears when it comes to unique idea's to getting somebody to buy a domain name but that ALL stops when you are trying to SELL a domain name you do not own!
I have got many emails in the past that state "I noitced you own ExampleDomain.org and we are offering the preferred
Many people read a lot of blogs but may have never really visited "The Home Page". I know this may sound silly but many people may go to DotWeekly.com directly and you would see the home page, but a lot of people also visit this site from Search Engines based on a past article that
I do not own many of them, but I do own some! The things that I love about them most are they give you the chance to "Own The Market" for the specific product. Secondly, adding the .com with the product name can create an instant Brand! You can read more about what I mean
I thought I would have a little fun and "write" some of my random domain related thoughts so you could read them
~ A domain name should explain itself, the owner shouldn't have to explain the domain.
~ I wonder how long before these near bankrupt auto companies start putting "Ford.com" as their badges instead
A few years ago, I bought a couple of domain names for my dad's business - one of which is the exact name of the store and the other is the shortened version, as it is commonly known. My dad had a website built, and about two years ago, he had Verizon re-design and manage

Being a little low on "material" to blog about due to lack of time, here's on that can quickly get me by till tomorrow where hopefully creativity will emerge: domain sales. Apparently domain sales are a pretty popular topic on the blog (and most searched through the Fka200.com "search" box), so let's put up some...
Katie and I?arrived in Lahaina, Maui, on New Year's Eve Day.? We had an early flight out of LA, gained 2 hours flying, and thus were exhausted by midnight.? We celebrated New Years Eve at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co after a fun dinner of Peel-n-Eat shrimp and listened to a solo guitarist rock out some

2009 food trendsAcai Juice... "While last year the pomegranate ruled the shelves and aisles, this year we'll see new and different berries and fruits in our juices. Acai berries, the fruit of the acai palm, are native to the Amazon region and have been widely touted for their antioxidant properties. Goji berries come from China and Mongolia and als...
I was asked by a colleague of mine the other day (who knows about my domain moonlighting) if I had any domains I wouldn?t sell. At first I said yes, there are a couple of domains in my portfolio I will not be selling as I have grand development plans for them. After thinking about this for a little while I changed my answer to no
