With the DOMAINfest Global Conference running this week in Hollywood, California, we're on the road again! We have some notes on that event as well as who was named keynote speaker for next month's Domainer Mardi Gras in New Orleans and what is on tap for the first ever European T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Conference coming to Amsterdam in June.
Such a simple task but not everyone is doing it. If you do not know how to backup your data please call your hosting company and ask them to walk you through it. I know HostGator has a tutorial video in their cPanel.

What to wear and what to see.
DOMAINfest 2009 kicks off tomorrow evening in Hollywood, California. The lineup is solid and this looks to be a great event. Here's my "practical" guide to attending the show.
When to Arrive
If you're new to domaining, or even intermediate, you should try to arrive Tuesday at noon.
Marketing potential of brand-name top level domains seems limited.
I've had a question about the proposed new top level domains for a long time. And no one has provided me with a good answer. Hopefully someone reading this can provide one.

Domain has met reserve and will sell for six figures.
The domain name Top.com has met its reserve at Sedo and is currently at EUR 101,000 ($133,000 USD). 38 bids have been placed. The auction ends January 29 at 7 am EST.
The auction should give a confidence boost to the domain industry
This pertains to offers on your domain names that are not through a 3rd party listing service like Sedo or Afternic.
You get an offer via email, send a reply and likely get another reply back. After several emails you and the interested party have come to terms on a sales price. Don't get overly excited

I landed in Burbank, California last night, ahead of the DomanFest Global show. It was neat having Michael Eisner (former CEO of Disney) on my flight from JFK to Burbank, although the unexpected stop in Salt Lake City to refuel (and then deice in a snowstorm) wasn't exactly appreciated. When I arrived at

Morning folks!! When you look at where we are economically you can boil it all down to one single word. One single pointed word. The hardest thing I have ever had to try and figure out is this economy or lack of one right now. But after a lot of consideration last summer I figured it out. The lynch pin in all this. The word......Confidence. There i...
