Michelle and I just got back from a wekeend in Puerto Rico. At arrival it wasn't fun to find out that Spirit Air sent my bag to Chicago instead. Our trip mostly consisted of various beaches, Snuba, driving around the countryside, and enjoying the area which we stayed at - Old San Juan.
To friends and family, here are some pics.. enjoy!

Few domain related observations from Puerto Rico.
1. English words or Spanish words + .com work well. ClasificadosOnline.com is a big advertiser on the island (too bad for them Chris Chena owns Clasificados.com). AutoExpreso.com, a government site, is also visible all around the island.
2. Google searches defaults to Google.com.pr, g...
How much longer can domainers ignore development?I have been playing at development to date, yet the sites I've turned into mini-businesses have done spectacularly well for me. I'm not sure whether it's all down to the domain names either, if I'm perfectly honest. As I mentioned in my last post here, I'm currently working with a team in India that I...
Tuesday will be a landmark day in the media world (and an important one for the domain business as well). The Seattle Post-Intelligencer will print its last newspaper before becoming the first daily newspaper in American to print online only. We'll tell you why this could favorably impact your bottom line.
The decision is in - after several days of uncertainty due to boardroom bickering, Associated Cities confirms the 2009 GeoDomain Expo will go on as scheduled April 23-25 in at the Catamaran Resort & Spa in San Diego. We have the first look at the show's theme and agenda.
Being self employed takes a lot of guts. You have to be brave enough to even make the decision to be someone who is their own boss. Then you have to carry that courage with you as you endure successes, failures and all that comes with it. As with everything in life,
Blackberry maker, Research In Motion (RIM), recently announced their sponsorship of the upcoming U2 world tour.? So naturally what would you do when planning a massive marketing campaign tied to a huge event like this?? You do what Godaddy did !? You register all sorts of domain names. Some to use but many simply for
Toys ‘R' Us loses search traffic from Toys.com domain name.
As I predicted a couple weeks ago, Toys.com has been de-indexed by Google. Now the value of Toys ‘R' Us' $5.1M purchase of Toys.com has been relegated to type-in traffic and potentially some of the inbound links to Toys.com.
The type-in traffic is valuable,...
Survey shows everyone looking for something different in expired domain services.
Last year Snapnames handily won the expired domain category in the annual Domain Name Wire survey. I anticipated that NameJet would take over the top spot this year because it has the best inventory. When it comes to quality, few would argue
JimMorrison.com in dispute at WIPO.
The estate of the late rocker Jim Morrison wants the domain name JimMorrison.com, and it is taking its fight to World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) under UDRP rules.
The domain name is currently owned by Rick Sentieri. The web site at JimMorrison.com includes lots of content that doesn't exactly...
Get rich quick or go broke trying.
A few weeks ago an account manager at a parking company told me he was frustrated. I asked why, and here's what he said (paraphrased):
A lot of new people are coming into this industry. They'll register a couple hundred domains and park them. Then they call
GeoDomain expo will take place in San Diego next month.
Associated Cities executive director Patrick Carleton just released this statement from president and acting chair Dan Pulcrano:
The 2009 Geodomain Expo is going full steam ahead. AC has an iron-clad contract with the hotel, a theme, confirmed attendees and sponsors. SanDiego.com emailed us t...
Company sells another domain name to raise cash.
The domain liquidation at Live Current Media (OTCbb: livc.ob) continues: a reader spotted the sale of Body.com at Sedo's Great Domains site for $400,000.
That means Live Current has grossed at least $2M from domain sales since announcing in October it would sell domain names to raise cash (assuming...

With over 700+ pages of content on DotWeekly.com I wanted to have a place that I could make it easier for my readers to find some of the things I wrote since the start of the site that I think are the best.

A thread on NamePros.com states that EscrowDNS.com the newer domain name escrow service that was mainly used by domainers has closed down, for now.
I had just got a very nice mailing the other day from Justin Godfrey the owner of EscrowDNS.com, so hearing this news was pretty surprising. I do know that I have spoke
I was reading Mike's Blog today about WIPO wanting domain registrars to be held responsible for their registrants' trademark infringing domain names, and I give it a thumbs up.? In fact, I said the same thing back in March of 2008, "Registrars Should Help Prevent Cybersquatting."
I believe that many people register domain names that have

Yeah - that would suck, right?? Well, what would happen to all of your domain names?? How would all of your Internet-based colleagues and friends find out about your demise? It has been a while since our last sales roundup.? There were a few larger sales, as well as a steady flow of smaller sales.? Compared to the battering that many other domain extensions have taken, .in seems to be holding up reasonably well in these difficult economic times.

In a letter to ICANN, The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) which handles domain dispute cases, is urging ICANN to pass "tough new rules to curb abusive practices by ?cybersquatters? and domain registrars".

This is the third article that I’ve written that relates to Earnings Per Click (EPC) in this series. As we’ve already explored EPC is one of the most misunderstood metrics and many of us still have a simplistic view of how EPC is actually determined. We’ve seen the problems that...
In the last article I discussed some of the problems that EPC presents for parking companies that want to display stats on a more or less immediate basis for their customers. I had a great comment suggesting that I get my facts straight about what data Google and Yahoo actually...
