This is the final day to pick up some nice keyword domains at wholesale domainer prices at my SnapNames auction. There are 164 domain names total. DNJournal.com Cover Story - Michael Berkens is one of the most successful investors in the history of the domain industry. He also writes an influential blog at TheDomains.com, yet few people knew anything about his background - until now. Meet the man Ron Sheridan called "the best kept secret in the domain business."
The T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference bypassed Las Vegas this year but the show will return to the popular desert resort in 2010. Their show dates are still up in the air though and they would like to have you help them decide which of their two options would work best for the majority of people interested in attending.
This is not directed to just the domaining industry but business in general.
Over the past few months I have noticed a few domainer feuds going on. They seem to have gone public through blogs. It leaves me pondering one question: Can't we all just get along?!
I'm leaving the discussion about feuds like that alone for

At the Domain Roundtable conference in Washington, D.C. last month, I noticed a lot of new faces with the Sedo team. As I started talking to them, I realized what was going on. Sedo had hired a number of people experienced selling to businesses. The company was making a focused effort selling

Roy Messer, perhaps most famous for selling Vodka.com for $3M, has successfully defended the domain name NationalRentaCar.com through UDRP.
The majority of the panel found that the domain name was confusingly similar to Vanguard Trademark Holdings' trademark "National Car Rental", but that the domain...

Twitter.com appears to have rolled out a new homepage design that took me by surprise a little. The new change currently appears only to be the homepage.
Normally with a bigger change like this, it's not a bad idea to have some text on the homepage About the new change. Something like: Do you like the
Owen Frager had a good article in which he pointed out what Rick Schwartz is doing on eRealEstate.com. I don't know the details of the deal, but Rick is still using eRealEstate.com for his own company, and another company is using eRealEstate.com as a social network for real estate professionals. By using subdomains and folders,

Morning Folks!! The Big 3 are Dead and replaced by Google, Microsoft and Apple. That small sentence is a mouthful and basically describes 2009 and the shift that has occurred. We are about to watch an epic battle between 3 Titans. Apple is the wildcard and Microsoft is losing market share when it comes to their software as Apple gains and Apple wil...

There were a few interesting domain auctions closing today.
One very interesting one was Hollywood.us.
I don't own very many .us domains, but this sure looked like a good one, especially in light of the success of Hollywood.com and Hollywood.tv.
After much debate between myself and myself, I passed, but still think it was a very good buy...
Readers of Mike Berken's blog were befuddled that the domain name thedog.com went for $13K on NameJet. Who would pay that? I wondered too so I asked Google. The first name that came up was a $300 million business online since 2000 and the #1 franchise for licensed artwork under the brand "the dog" in Japan. They had been operating (and/or handicappe...
Is Sarah Palin secretly a beat poet? Do her words make little to no sense because she is so immersed in language and lyrics that she operates on a plane we cannot grasp? We sincerely doubt it, but that was the implication last night as William Shatner appeared on the "Tonight Show" and read Sarah's resignation speech in his typical Shatner way, wit...
After Long Gestation, QR Codes in U.S. Are Finally Starting to Catch On As anyone who has ever struggled to manually input a URL into a mobile phone browser will tell you, there are relatively few joys to be had in the physical act of "texting." Surprising, then, that the QR code -- sometimes dubbed the URL killer -- has yet to catc...

The Band Unjust apparently has let it's domain name unjust.com expire. The name is now up for auction at NameJet and already has 50 bidders at the time of this posting. What's even stranger, is the title of one of their albums is "To Lose Name".
The band is a Metal band from the San Francisco area, and this doesn't appear to be an error....
I'm not sure if this is the first lawsuit resulting from a tweet on Twitter, however it's the first tweet lawsuit I've heard of. The tweet certainly was offensive but did it cause anywhere near the $50,000 being asked for? The person sending the tweet (whose Twitter account is now deleted — not sure if
