By Jarred Cohen, Bido COO
It's been brought to our attention on a few occasions, more so recently, that vote fraud occurs at times on Bido. While our listings to sales ratio is attractive, many sellers wish to take advantage of this and increase their chances of selling their very own domains. To do this, some sellers are asking other people in the...
Sedo has provided us with statistics and individual auction logs showing that DDOS attacks against their site on Thursday did not materially impact sales results from their GreatDomains October auction - in fact overall results were better than they were in the previous month's auction.
I wish I was able take the credit for this, but I cannot. My buddy Daniel Dryzek of DanielDryzek.com and MeetDomainers.com just shared with me this great list on Twitter. The list is made up of all the 1 and 2 character .de domain names registered earlier today. He also has a full list of
If you've been keeping up with the news lately, I'm sure you've heard about the Heenes Family, who allegedly told authorities their son was missing and might've been in a homemade, helium-filled balloon. Their son was hiding in the attic, which was allegedly known by both of the parents. And what could these parents of
DDOS to blame for problems during auction yesterday.
Sedo's outage during the .de domain name auction yesterday was not due to intense bidding activity, but was actually a distributed denial of service (DDOS) attack, reports the company.
In a statement released today, Sedo wrote:
Due to a malicious attempt to disrupt our services, Sedo suffered fro...
Marchex takes a big hit from product change at Yahoo.
Back in August I wrote about potential exposure Marchex has to the Yahoo-Microsoft search deal, particularly around Yahoo's paid inclusion service. Marchex grossed about $2 million from the product in the second quarter of this year, but the product's future was up in the air
Media giant loses case against small town real estate agent.
Financial media company Bloomberg Finance has lost a domain name dispute with a small town real estate agent over the domain BloombergRealty.com.
Bloomberg filed a case with National Arbitration Forum, arguing that the domain name BloombergRealty.com violated the media company's tradema...
Second domain arbitration loss for financial media company today.
Earlier today Domain Name Wire wrote about financial media company Bloomberg losing a domain name arbitration case for BloombergRealty.com. Apparently today isn't a good day for financial media companies and domain names: Dow Jones just found itself on the losing end of a case for M...
"The Beginner's Guide to Screwing Up Royally", that pretty much sums it all up. DENIC had a chance to do something truly great and but after making one bad decision after another, they ended up turning the introduction of one and two character .de domains into a fiasco for everyone except a handful of people.
I have been a fan of the TV show American Choppers featuring the Teutul family for sometime now and it has been fun not only watching the show, but watching the business grow over the years.
At the end of last season, the Teutul family was breaking up with heavy fueds between the father (Paul Sr.),
A couple of hours ago I did a break down of the new business launch and website launch of PaulJrDesigns.com here .
A couple things I want to point out and why I wrote what I wrote.
I want to help those that are getting ready to launch their website, so I wanted to point out areas
There's been a lot of discussion about mini sites these past few days. Well, I guess there's been a lot of discussion about them over the past year, but it seems to have come to a head recently. I have been a proponent of mini sites, and for the most part, I've had pretty good

Morning Folks!! Last year at this time we were in a fog. Business fog. Business runs on preparing for tomorrow. Projecting where you are going and how fast you will get there. When you can’t do that, big problems will occur and they did and they have. Now things are much clearer. The fear of the fog may be gone but the moment of reality is soon to ...

According to reports the oral arguments lasted for about for 90 minutes from each side.

A few days ago I posted a blog on my number one rule to avoid failure in the domain industry is not to piss your money away.
Today on Godaddy.com,? there are 4 typos for the site, ToonTown.com on the expired auction block with a total high bid price of almost $4K with almost 3 days
Intuit Websites Has a Better Solution. I particularly like the promise of three easy steps, the last one "get found" showing the site at the top of the Google page.
Just like FreeCreditReport.com had a great idea for a problem you could engage consumers in on TV and sign up on the web, so too comes others who find a way to profit from your misery and misfortune with fear mongering TV spots. LifeLock.com, IdentityGuard.com and ProtectMyIdentity.com- may the best DOMAIN win. And if you have a better one, why not...

Just over 100 years ago Jules Verne wrote the famous book ?Around the world in 80 days? and in 2009 I planned on doing it in twelve. The challenge was to link the multitude of schedules for aircraft, hotels, business contacts and a conference into a seamless and hopefully flawless plan that had every chance of breaking apart.
The journey started a ...

Yep... The world is a better place without it. Now, as I am sure you already knew, I have been one of the most vocal critics of Rick's services over the past year. I have also been one of the biggest fans because I admire anybody who is involved with development one way or another. So, I am going to be brutally honest here and just tell it like it ...
Last week, in our inaugural Case Study Friday post, Joel described a new site he's been developing - CreditCardChaser.com. Today, I'm going to pick up where he left off and provide some insight into the technical aspects of the site and the "Chaser" tool.

Okay – so I'm working on a new book and thought it would be good to share at least one of the secrets I am revealing in the book. This book will NOT be an eBook but instead one of those old fashioned ones that you have to hold in your hands and has pages
Last night I hand-registered H1N1A.us to build an informational site about the H1N1 influenza. I spent about two hours last night reading tons of information from the CDC, various medical institutions, and of course Wikipedia. I took detailed notes and then analyzed Google searches to try to better understand what people are looking for when
