Just came across DNCrunch.com, and the name sounded familiar. I remember because when it was recently listed and sold on Bido, I was quick to e-mail Michael Arrington and the TechCrunch crew about this auction. They skipped, and someone else got it, and now, a new blog is born to cover the domain industry further.

When users request expert status on Bido, one of the questions we ask is for initial thoughts of Bido. While mostly the feedback has been highly positive, we hardly ever mention it. This post is dedicated to our team members, as they are the folks behind the scenes that do the hard work, making things happen (yes, even on weekends!). Here are a num...
Just after Christmas, I sent out a mailshot to a few selected companies, offering skill.co.uk for sale.
It's a great generic name and I envisaged that it would appeal to a training organisation, a recruitment operation or perhaps a skills gaming company.
The price tag was ?100,000 firm and I consider that to be cheap, knowing what
A couple things in the news to report about GoDaddy.
First, GoDaddy released a preview of? their upcoming Super Bowl ads. You can catch a preview of the commercials at GoDaddy.com. I know you want to, they have hot women.
The second piece of news is the company's departure of Adam Dicker, VP of Domain Aftermarket.?Most of
On the front page of the Chicago Tribune today, there was 1 article that caught my attention, Making Donations Matter. The article talked about how within days of Tuesday, when the Haiti earthquake happened, more than 400 Haiti relief websites went up. While many of them are legitimate, a good number of them are not.
Better
Adam Dicker, former VP of Domain Aftermarket at GoDaddy has left the company according to a post on DNForum, a forum that is owned and operated by Dicker. According to his post he left GoDaddy on good terms and wants to use the gained time in order to focus on other projects. During his 2
Domaining forums, now there's a two edged sword! On the one hand, checking them out at least every once in a while can be worth it but on the other hand, there's so much noise that it's not even funny. I treat every second I spend doing something related to making money as an investment
When was the last time that you purchased a domain name and looked at how many indexed pages the domain name had? I would bet that many never even thought about looking at that number. Although many domain names do not have indexed pages as a lot of domain names were never developed, a lot
The very popular domain name service Esitbot.com is announcing a release to it's V2.0 that will take place very shortly! There are A LOT of new things coming to V2.0 at Estibot and one of them is a New Look!
Some other new things that I have been waiting for is the Estibot API. How about
I was browsing domain name auctions this morning at Sedo.com and happened to notice a nice one that jumped out at me. ScreenPrinter.com . The domain name was sent to auction at Sedo on 1 bid of $12,000 and the auction ends tomorrow 1/17/2010 at 12:49 PM EST. Currently at posting, the domain still remains
In 2008, I was browsing through some names owned by Buy Domains and I saw a domain name that was related to the Holocaust. It wasn't exactly an obvious Holocaust domain name, but when the term was Googled, the relationship was more than clear. I informed Pete Lamson (GM of Buy Domains at the time)

This is a response to the Domain Name Wire post ‘Remember, no one searches with quotes'
In the post, the reader is reminded that while we often cite term frequency as the number of results we get from Google when searching for a term in quotes, most people do not use quotes when searching.
I agree that
I love hearding stories about development especially with domains most domainers would never bid on. As the mammoth Quinstreet filed to go public more of thier purchases are now public.
CardRatings.com – a site with just under 100,000 visitors a month (not an enormous amount of traffic by any measure)?was sold for $10.2 million in an
Another domain which was developed but would probably see no more than a couple hundred in auction is ReliableRemodeler.com
According to Quinstreet's SEC filing
"In February 2008, we acquired ReliableRemodeler.com, Inc., or ReliableRemodeler, an Oregon-based company specializing in online home renovation and contractor referrals for $17.5 million ...
After reading a post on Domain Shane's blog about him finding a room at The Hard Rock for only $64 per night, we immediately called our contacts there.
Even if you have already booked your room, they will lower your rate, again. We didn't get them down to $64 per night but we did get them
Godaddy.com got to love their marketing strategy.
If you don't love it you at least have to admire it.
In its newest Super Bowl ad (they bought 2), called "Movies" featuring Danica Patrick recreating some very famous sexy movie scenes.
Patrick first re-creates actress Kelly LeBrock's?initial appearance in "Weird Science," wearing?a half-shirt and p...
City domain names and state domain names are among my favorite internet properties. Dan Pulcrano of Boulevards New Media hit the gold mine in the 1990's acquiring?many .com?city domain names?in?advance?of the eventual dissolution of print media.
Boulevard's?portfolio of city domains is simply stunning, and the collective value almost priceless.?Exa...
One of the things that many people get frustrated with is measuring the progress of their search engine optimization changes. As we know it can take days, weeks, or even months to see results of the changes made to the site being worked on.
And to make matters even worse, it will also depend on how "important" the search engines see the site as we...
It's a new year and many people are getting started on their taxes. If you are new to the Domaining world taxes can be a very confusing subject…actually let's be honest, taxes are really confusing when it comes to Domaining businesses period. I recently received an email from one of my readers asking me to
Didn't buy but two names this week and one of them I really didn't mean to buy so if anyone want icescrapers.net, it's for sale.? I guess for $10 it's not too bad but not really in my niche.? Although, this past week I did use one almost every day.? I have too many cars

At least that's what Mark Gibbs thought in an article written in 1999 for Network World.? It's easy to look back and laugh…..so I did.? I figure I wasn't smart enough to buy generic domains back then so I like to? look back and read articles about "domaining"? (not a word back then)? from the

The past few days have been amazing for me.? Lately I have chosen to mention more about domaining then I ever had in 2009.? I now describe what I do to the majority of business associates that I meet.? You'd be amazed at the type of responses I receive.
Recently one response turned into a potential
Is it a suprrise to see the top sites on the internet don't use category-killer names? Companies have created brands that no category-killer domain name could ever compete with - from Google to Facebook and WordPress to Bing. Even Flickr is in the top 50. Is Search.com on top of Google? Not even close. Search.com is ranked #4032 with under 1 millio...

There is an interesting name listed for Auction over at NameJet: Wickes.com. The .ORG is owned by none other than Frank Schilling and the pre-bidding has reached nearly 100 bidders with a high bid of $2,000. Backorder deadline ends Jan. 16th at 11 PM EST. What's the intrigue? Does this name have trouble written all over it? There are some compellin...

In particular, Ron – or "Duke" as he's known on online domainer forums – has been a reputable, long time correspondent of news and events from TRAFFIC.
Usually, Ron shows up with a high qu...
What makes for good content? Something that is eyecatching and provocative, and not always PC (see BeautifulPeople.com article). Jimmy Kimmel provided very buzzworthy content last night, when he torched Leno on his own show.
Kimmel: "Oh, this is a trick, right? Where you get me to host The Tonight Show and then take it
