Over the years I have taken thousands of photos of domainers at industry events around the world. I noticed in going through our massive photo archive recently that we have hundreds of photos of people whose names I don't have. I would like to change that and hope you can help. Also today, more news on upcoming conferences.
BME.com case ruling could affect domain owners. A United States District Court ruling in a case between Gregory Ricks and BMEZine over the domain name BME.com has some interesting implications for domain name owners. (For background on the case, see Ricks Files Lawsuit to Retain Control of BME.com) Without getting into all the details of
Have you submitted comments about inter-registrar transfers? Earlier this month I made a call-to-action on an important comment period at ICANN. At issue is the "Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy Part B Initial Report". Part of the report suggests a mechanism by which victims of domain thefts can regain control of their domains. But important safegua...
Even if you're a company fan, resist the urge to use a trademark in your domain name. The GM Volt electric car is getting quite a bit of buzz lately, including this article in the New York Times. The article links to GM-Volt.com, which it notes is unaffiliated with GM. Compete.com shows that GM-Volt.com gets
Two three digit domains sell for big bucks. Domain name brokerage Sedo has sold the domain name 029.com for $110,000, and also moved 980.com for $40,000 to lead its weekly sales charts. Both domain names now have proxy whois registrations. Another big sale was Underdog.com, which must have beaten the favorite when it sold for
The .CO domain registration count has reached 336,000+ just one week after the?exciting launch. Remaining quality one-word domains are well on their way to being all claimed, but there are a few left…This article is from DotSauce Magazine.One-Word .CO Domains Available to Register – Includes 2009 Word of the Year!
Sedo.com kicked in another strong 5 figure domain name sale with 980.com taking in $40,000 USD . Sorry I couldn't let you know who the new buyer is.. as DomainTools.com is down again and has been for most of the day.
I noticed it yesterday.. and pointed it out as well, but several .org domain sales
DoNotVoteForMyDad.com | A website created by what appears to be a ticked off daughter and son-in-law is grabbing some wide exposure and well, the domain name speaks for itself. Do Not Vote For My Dad! "The dad" is stated to be John Mantooth who is running for judge in McClain County.
Jan Schill, 31, said she
As one would expect, there are many people who are buying .CO domain names with the hopes of capitalizing on typo traffic. These people are looking through Alexa, Compete, Quantcast, and other various traffic estimation tools in the hopes of purchasing .CO domain names that will get traffic intended for the .COM.

We're feeling a little curious today, so we have a couple questions for our community. What was the first domain name you registered? Do you still have/use it? Do you even remember what your first domain purchase was? ;) We'd love to hear from you! We'll also randomly select a comment and award the poster
Bankrate, Inc. announced on June 24 they will acquire CreditCards.com and NetQuote for a combined $350 million. This is a monster deal (and not a domain sale for you blokes who think every company sold with a .com is a domain sale). According to compete these 2 sites have over 2,000,000 unique visitors a month
SaaS – or software as a service – is the biggest technology buzzword today; and Latona’s Domain Brokerage and Auction House will be bringing SaaS.com to T.R.A.F.F.I.C. Dublin for auction. If you aren't familiar with the term, Google it. The advertiser list is a who's who of the Internet business. Companies like Google themselves, SAP,...
This watch is a chronograph which means it tracks time, like a stop watch. What makes it unique is its tachometer. That's why they call it a driver's watch. The bezel helps you measure the elapsed time over a pre-determined distance. You can measure up to 400 units per hour whether measured in kilometers or miles.
Yep, I'm a big .org fan. All the hub-bub about ".co" right now just makes me wonder why domainers aren't fighting to own .org domains, which are in the top THREE extensions, promoted by every major non-profit organization, and very available for very cheap. Best of all, the public KNOWS about .org domains.
I have a

There was an interesting post today by Andrew Allemann of DomainNameWire. He wrote about having gone to visit a relative near St. Louis, Missouri and driving for some distance on I-70 away from St. Louis.
Dotted along the highway were numerous billboards owned by Porlier Outdoor Advertising. Billboard advertising has become a mainstay in the advert...

My good friend Patrick is holding the first-ever Domain Conference on a boat, and he just sweetened the deal! First let me just say that this is going to be a conference to remember! Patrick has put a lot of time into putting-together an excellent educational program along with some phenomenal networking opportunities. On top
So I'll be the first to admit that I haven't had much success myself selling ccTLDs. While I do sell usually a domain or two a month these are mostly in other extensions (usually .us). Most of my ccTLD domains I've been holding onto for development or resale at a time when I think the

I must say that when I read the headline at Newfound Names last Friday, I knew I was being baited. After, I'm the guy who started it all with the infamous "DNJournal Closes Down – Ron Jackson retires a millionaire" article. But I clicked regardless, because I like being entertained. Entertainment comes from multiple sources;...
It was a fight of David versus Goliath, an epic battle that has lasted more than 10 years. Time and again, Rick Schwartz prevailed in court, thrashing his opponent – cleaning maker W.M. Barr & Co.
