Enom no more | Mark As Read |
Using eNom as a registrar these days is a leftover from around 2002; that's when I acquired a reseller account and managed to keep my domain renewal costs low. An incident that occurred today made me change my strategy with regards to eNom; instead of keeping my remaining domains there – mostly TLDs that Fabulous.com

Another One of Those Awful Hosting Experiences | Mark As Read |
Having to host dozens of different sites I have many shared hosting accounts, some VPS's and a dedicated server. One of these cheap shared accounts is with fatcow.com and recently I needed to add some redirects to "mask" the long and ugly affiliate urls. I usually do this with a 301 redirect through .htaccess. There are

Vibram FiveFingers Are Hot and So Are Its Cybersquatters | Mark As Read |
Barefoot alternative is hot, but company is challenged by counterfeits and cybersquatters. Vibram FiveFingers "shoes" are all the rage these days. The shoes are kind of like gloves for feet with five separate toe compartments. Barefoot running is popular, and FiveFingers are pitched as an even better alternative. Although my podiatrist tells me to ...

What A Goddady Sale Could Mean For The Domain Industry | Mark As Read |
Love him or hate him you have to admit that Bob Parsons has bought attention to domain names to mainstream America like no one before him. That's why the story by the Wall Street Journal yesterday saying that Godaddy was going to place itself in an auction to sell the company, is one all domainers

Wired.com Blasts Demand Media: Whats Hiding In Demand Medias Finances? | Mark As Read |
A post by Wired.com, pretty much blasts Demand Media over their S-1 they filed to go public, and previous statements made by co-founder Richard Rosenblatt regarding the profitability of the company: ""Several commentators noted the absence of profits, (in the S-1) which sat oddly with co-founder Richard Rosenblatt?s public pronouncements over the y...

SearchEngineWatch.com: 15% Of All Searches Include The Domain Extension & Not Just .Com?s | Mark As Read |
A VERY interesting post tonight by Search Engine Watch on people's search patterns and how often people include the domain extension while searching and which extension they include. The author calls it "Navigational Search" when someone goes to a search engine like Google and searches for say Amazon.com rather than just Amazon. "A navigational sea...

Flashback w/Flowers.Mobi on the block-- Cash UR Wheels (.com)- DotMOBI's 2nd Chance As A Carvertising Brand | Mark As Read |
I've talked about the opportunity for dotMOBI to build brands via Carvetising. Now Springwise reports that Carvertising has been around for years—both the kind focused on rental cars, which we've covered several times, and the kind that lets sellsumers earn a little extra cash wrapping their own cars in ads. Setting its sights on the latter, cashURw...

Domaining SEO Sunday: Do You Understand URL Canonicalization? | Mark As Read |
URL Canonicalization is one of the most misunderstood yet important SEO concepts. The basic idea is that Google (or anyone for that matter) can link to different versions of your site, in most cases www.yoursite.com and yoursite.com. In most cases a 301 redirect is used to make sure everyone ends-up at the same place. Does

TV.com Sold for $15,000 in 1996 | Mark As Read |
In 1996, TV.com sold to CNET for $15,000, which was seen as a high purchase price. The original article, also marveled at the $150,000 sale of Business.com and noted that for some of these names one could buy a nice 1 bedroom condo instead. Morever, the authors wisely noted that buying an expensive generic domain
