When I met the Parked.com crew during TRAFFIC 2008 in Orlando, I had the opportunity to engage with some of the best people in the domain monetization business. It was clear that Parked rocked during those times and the company did remarkably well; the people that worked for Parked were top notch and experienced professionals.
In today's Lowdown at DNJournal.com we have news from 4 different domain conferences; DOMAINfest Global, the next Southern California Domainers meetup, Domaining Europe and Traffic 2012. Plus, Lana Del Rey, the new music industry sensation with domain industry roots, appears on national TV tomorrow night.
The following 141 domain names are expired and available to register at the time of writing this. As usual, all names are linked to the Godaddy, Moniker and Network Solutions buy screens for quick access as the names are usually gone quickly. hardraves.com Godaddy Moniker NetSol leadershiproad.com Godaddy Moniker NetSol collegefarms.com Godaddy Mon...
The following 45 domain names are available to bid on at the Godaddy auctions at the time of writing this. All names are linked to the Godaddy auction bid screen for quick access. I have tried to confirm all PRs to make sure they are not fake but you still have to do your own
Domain parking service Parked.com closed their doors for the final time yesterday. If you visit Parked.com now, all you will see is a blank page and a small notice at the bottom that says: For questions regarding Parked.com, please contact PartnerSupport@Parked.com Threads on domaining forums indicate that Parked.com has merged with DomainApps.com ...
Manage your old Parked.com and WhyPark accounts in one interface. Earlier this month WhyPark announced it was changing its name to DomainApps. The name change made since, especially since the company had been acquired by Parked.com a couple years ago. WhyPark is kind of a derogatory term to parking companies, after all. But Parked.com clients
Salesforce.com awarded hyphenated version of popular AppExchange.com web site. A service that helps app creators submit their wares to the Windows Phone marketplace must give its domain name to Salesforce.com, an arbitration panel has ruled. Singapore based App Port LLP hosts its web site at App-Exchange.com. The problem? Salesforce.com owns the po...
Rise of mobile has big affect on CPCs. I just reviewed Efficient Frontier's Q4 report for online advertising, which includes predictions for 2012. The good news? The company predicts search spend will increase 15%-20% in 2012. On the downside for domain parkers, CPC will decrease 4% on top of 5% Quarter-over-quarter that they reported in...
I try new things all the time, some work and some do not! GoDaddy Goodies is a series I have been doing on DotWeekly for sometime now (I think well over 100 lists to date) and I have always enjoyed doing them. Many of you enjoy them as well. The bad thing, they take a
I just received an updated version of the Protrada user guide (pdf download) that I want to share with you. If you use Protrada and want to make the most of it, or if you haven't figured out how to use Protrada yet, I recommend having a look at the user guide pdf. Now might be a
At the end of November 2011, I learned that Marijuana.com had been purchased by WeedMaps Media, Inc., an entity of the publicly traded General Cannabis, Inc. The reported acquisition price was $4.20 million. At the beginning of the year, additional details emerged about the transaction, and Mike Berkens reported (via George Kirikos) that there was ...
If you've been to a domain conference before, you probably know who Lana Del Rey is, and you may have even met her before. Lana Del Rey, aka Lizzy Grant, is the daughter of domain investor Rob Grant, and she has been a frequent attendee to various domain conferences. Lana Del Rey has quickly gained
Or maybe Beeracle? The Denver Broncos quarterback is surrounded by miracle and mystery. We're glad he could share…but hoping we didn't tap him of his mojo right before the New England Patriots game.
Hi everyone and Happy New Year for 2012! 2011 was a very quite time for this blog / podcast due to other projects that I needed to focus on. 2012 will be a very different story as I am very pleased to announce that I have partnered up with Danny Batelic from www.tradingwebsitesblog.com & www.dominiche.com and also the
Yesterday I saw the sale of the domain name Sexy.org cross the Sedo.com wire for a mere $7,500.
Ouch.
Sexy is without a doubt a great word for an adult or semi adult site.
Its right below words like sex … Continue Reading
Just got a email from Rick Schwartz one of the organizers of the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. conference announcing that he has opened registration for the show for $995 for the 1st 35 people that register.

Earlier today I was interviewed by Michael Cryger for Domainsherpa.com and he asked a number of questions that caused me to reflect on my domaining journey and in particular what it means to extract the maximum amount of revenue from your own domains.
The first thing that I would like to say about Domain revenue optimisation is that if you leave al...
Well I am finally back from Las Vegas after attending both Affiliate Summit and CES 2012. Both of these conferences are an absolute blast and as always I have plenty of reflections to share with all of you. CES ends today but I am back home in Los Angeles and thought I would share some
Talk about a bad day. I can't even put down how many bad things happened today. It was one thing right after another. It wasn't karma, many of them were things that happen every once in a while but just happened on the same day. The others were the result of being too busy and
When will people learn? I'll be the first to say that domain squatting isn't right. While some would argue differently, blatantly trying to capitalize on someone else's idea and hard work just isn't the American way, to me anyways. Do your own work, make your own successes is the route I feel people should take.
I had an unusual thing happen to me this week. I received a letter from Sedo saying that my account had been terminated and all monies kept due to unnatural traffic to my domains. Needless to say I was upset but I was pretty sure I knew why. Or at least I think I know
As I noted I had a heck of day yesterday. One thing after another. Here is part two of the bad day. I sold a name this week. Happy with the price, excited about the sale. Then, I get an email asking if I really am the owner. I'm not one to use privacy so
It's Friday the 13th today and the despicable Jason Voorhees is out on the loose. At least, that's the case with the cult movie series "Friday the 13th." But what's the deal with related web sites displaying an array of happy students? A case of bad taste or just inability of the keyword processor to
Renetta Knox sent us a bill this morning, about our "order for helicopter for the weekend". The invoice read as follows: Your order for our air carriage services has been received and processed. The chopper will be at your disposal from 13.45 sunday to 1.15 a.m. saturday. Once again, our rates are: 1 hour in
An email sent out by Rick Schwartz announces the opening of registrations for the 2012 TRAFFIC conference in Ft. Lauderdale! T.R.A.F.F.I.C. 2012 is coming in October! New Zealanders are known affectionately as "kiwis" – what with the kiwi bird being the endemic, protected species living on the remote cluster of islands that form New Zealand. A group of patriotic entrepreneurs from New Zealand have announced their intention to apply for the .kiwi gTLD, taking advantage of the ICANN opening of such...

On Monday it's Martin Luther King Jr. day, and as such all businesses that observe the calendar of Federal holidays will be closed in the US. That includes banks, the US post office and major US corporations, including Sedo. So don't get agitated if you witness a delay in responses as the Boston office of
You might think that the year 2032 is far away, but we can honestly tell you; 20 years can go by in a flash! We sent Marty McFly back to the future and he took an amazing Polaroid snapshot on the Ft. Lauderdale gathering of domainers – that's TRAFFIC 2032 Tweet This Post
