An eagle-eyed DNForum member noticed that there are several corporate brands in the domain industry, that are currently being squatted upon in the .Domains gTLD.
The culprit: a Chinese national who went all out by registering the following domain names at GoDaddy:
Meanwhile, someone else registered TopNotch.domains and is offering it for sale on Sedo; TopNotchDomains.com is the corporate entity of domain investor, Elliot Silver.
Other domain companies, such as eNom, GoDaddy or Dynadot have either blocked or registered their matching dot .domains. That wasn’t the case with Moniker.domains, however, that bears some bogus WHOIS info.
Cybersquatting is apparently alive and well in the era of new gTLDs and these examples display the need for a strategy by both domain investors and brand holders.
