Ninja descendants oppose new dot ninja domains in Japan

The descendants of legendary ninja warriors are having a strong reaction in Japan, where the average person lives more than 80 years.

Dumbfounded by the new release of dot .Ninja domains, the grandson of the last known ninja warrior, Takahashi Arigato Yamamoto, spoke to Tokyo TV:

“American insult to Japan, after Hiroshima and Nagasaki, now this. Grandfather, same name as I, true warrior, fought against China for Emperor, true insult get ninjutsu master art of war!”

Since that television interview, other relatives of ninja warriors have come forward, demanding the banning of dot .Ninja domains in Japan.

The Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe, called president Obama today, to express his concern about what he referred to as “an act of unprovoked violence against Japanese subjects in Cyberspace.”

President Obama’s response was that he will sponsor the new ICANN multi-stakeholder model with Japan as the honorary president nation, if dot .ninja gets cleared in Japan.

Such arguments on a national level are to be expected, when a US company utilizes the cultural or historic symbols of another, as in this case, without explicit regard to their collective sensitivities.
