Company Domain Movers From Aldi, Kellogg & More

Here is the latest company domain movers with new registrations and domain name purchases by large companies. Several interesting stories along with some of these domains today, so enjoy.

Penguin Books Limited

Purchased the domain name HappyReader.com, likely from Sedo. The domain was registered 3/11/2014 and was likely backordered. The domain was parked with Sedo since it’s recent creation and
appears to have had a purchase price of $499? Not sure if that was what it sold for or not because sometimes “old” listings are not removed from some domain aftermarket services.

Bosch

Showed they own Zip.biz now, adding to Zip.info I wrote about yesterday. Zip.biz had “Foley & Lardner” in whois prior, actually dating all the way back to 2004 and at that time, whois displayed Roto Zip Tool Corporation.

Amazon Inc.

Registered several domain names relating to its latest release, the Fire Phone and accessories for it! AmazonFireEarbuds.com, AmazonFireHeadphones.com, AmazonEarphones.com and
AmazonEarbuds.com . Then simply with the Fire brand, FireEarbuds.com and FireEarphones.com. FireHeadphones.com was actually registered on 6/18/2014.

One thing that has to be a little hard for Amazon, since they sell so many products and brands, is using generic terms like “amazon earbuds”. A lot of people search for a term like that,
but are not specificly looking for the “amazon brand” but earbuds in general ON Amazon. Clearly they can put Amazon products in-line with the other brands but in general, it does make
branding a bit harder. Sticking with the Fire brand helps this but who want to put “fire” in your ear 🙂

DocuSign, Inc.

Who is a company that provides electronic signature technology and Digital Transaction Management services for facilitating electronic exchanges of contracts and signed documents.

They registered the domain names DocYouSign.org and DocYouSign.info . They also registered DocYouSign.net on 6/17/2014 and HugeDomains.com currently owns DocYouSign.com which they grabbed
on the drop on 7/18/2014 and has it listed for sale at $2,795. DocYouSign.com was last registed at GoDaddy.com and expired 4/30/2014.

DocUSign.com is the websites main domain, so clearly the “sounds like / radio test” would be “Doc You Sign” and is a vital domain for them to own!

MarkMonitor

It appears that either MarkMonitor let the domain name RepoTools.com expire or their customer GHC Specialty Brands, LLC (Grainger) allowed the domain to expire at MarkMonitor… it appears
that whatever happened, MarkMonitor had to dropcatch the domain back or likely had to purchase it a drop auction. The timing doesn’t fit with an auction taking place The domain expired on
6/1/2014 and followed the drop process. The domain was grabbed by “DomainsOfTheDay.net” on 7/23/2014 and now is reassociated with MarkMonitor, likely for Grainger. That is a SnapNames
registrar that grabbed the domain and it would be a bit surprising if there were 0 other backorders?

It appears that other domains owned by Grainger were let expire at the same time, like TowingAccessories.com (which dropped and was grabbed by an eNom register and likely on auction at
NameJet) TowAccessories.com which was grabbed by “threadwatch.com”.

British Sugar plc

Appears to have acquired the domain name MakingSenseOfSugar.com . The domain was registered by Easily Limited in 2013 which is a registrar, Jonathan Davies was added to whois on 1/5/2014 which remained the same until 7/18/2014 and the email address [email protected] was added. As of yesterday, whois changed to British Sugar PLC. The only thing I couldn’t connect is if “Jonathan Davies” is or was associated TO British Sugar PLC. ABFoods.com redirects to ABF.co.uk and is the Associated British Foods PLC.

Kellogg

Ran a promotion called “The Tiny Door Project” which was produced by Publicis Groupe (ad agency) and used the domain name TinyDoorProject.com which you can see a cache of the site here:

That project appears to be over now, as Kellogg is now listed as the registrant of the domain (Publicis was prior) and TinyDoorProject.com does a redirect to Facebook.com/KeeblerCookies .

The redirect is a good thing, because many companies simply let these domains expire and “waste” existing traffic to the domain and it’s SE rankings. TinyDoorProject.com was registered on
7/3/2013 and is currently registered until 2016.

ALDI Einkauf GmbH & Co. oHG (ALDI Supermarket)

Hand registered the domain name SpendALittleLiveALot.com . “Spend A Little, Live A Lot” has been a tagline used by Aldi for sometime (at least around 2008) as far as I can see. The domain
was registered before since 5/1/2008 by a Jon Horsfield of the UK. The domain expired on 5/1/2014.

The Bank of New York Mellon

Registered 4 domain names and those include: ChangingFaceOfRisk.com .net and TheChangingFaceOfRisk.com .net

DNStination Inc. (MarkMonitor)

Registered this domain: SweetTomatoesAndSouPlantationOnlineCommunity.com for a client… likely Souplantation.com which is owned by Garden Fresh Restaurant Corp.
