Oops! We broke Escrow.com
The expansion of the Internet name lanes is like the Y2k bug at times: gTLD domains introduce challenges daily to functions where regular TLDs do just fine.
An apparent glitch that we found yesterday, affects the API between Domain Name Sales and Escrow.com, and it’s something that produced an hour of “fun” attempting to complete a domain sale, which failed repeatedly with the same error.
Apparently, Escrow.com does not support gTLDs yet as the email address of the parties; our buyer’s email address ended in dot “.email”.
While trying to accept their offer and initiate the Escrow.com transaction, the following system error was produced, time and again:
“TransID: None – Escrow.com “API” Call probably failed”
After opening a ticket, Domain Name Sales confirmed that the issue is at Escrow.com and it should be fixed soon.
Not a biggie; in the meantime, if you have received offers from “funky” gTLD email addresses, you might want to ask your buyer to use a regular TLD.

And many web forms won’t accept E-mail addresses with TLDs longer than 3 characters… like IDNs.
In a way they are like gadgets when you try to use them in the real world…
…and, even if you can somehow get every single form and script in the world to accept your new gtld email (ha!), you will never stop users from mistakenly typing in .COM as an extension thereby causing the email to go to the wrong recipient, probably a competitor. Hello! The whole gtld concept is an incredibly bad idea and is a bridge to nowhere.

Very informative post you gave to your readers as usual. Thank you for that. I am happy to post that Escrow.com worked tirelessly to improve their system, and get new GTLDs accepted as regular email addresses.
