Chain.com Domain Purchased By Block Chain Start-Up

Chain.com domain has been purchased for an undisclosed amount by block chain start-up Chain.com Inc. and sold by SOJCOM, LLC according to whois records.

Based on some research, the company behind the Chain.com domain purchase is Albumatic who later changed its name to Koa.la but still is using the name Albumatic as they did in whois data for Chain.com . They were founded in 2012 and in 2013 had raised a Series A round of $4.2 Million.

One solid connection is that Adam Ludwin has been with the ever changing company.  Chain.com is venture-backed and currently has a team of 8.

What is Chain.com? The Block Chain For API Developers

Based on whois data, Chain.com was purchased on or about May 15, 2014. I wrote about the domain sellers SOJCOM, LLC (Brand Group Holdings) who owns a stunning domain name portfolio with other domain names like Great.com, Pen.com, Lucky.com and Super.com .

Koa.la gave two early indicators as to what they may be up to, and this included two domain name registrations: Chain-Beta.com which as registered by Devon Gundry on 4/16/2014 and then on 4/24/2014 the domain name Chain-API.com was registered by Devon.

I tried my best to get some information directly from the buyers with several contacts, but I never heard back! That part sucks, but I tried! I really wanted to hear the story of purchasing the domain (I didn’t really care how much they purchased it for, because it’s only a number) but I’m sure people would have loved to put a number on the Chain.com sale. I can tell you this, it wasn’t cheap! Based on who the seller is and the quality of the domain, this domain very likely sold for six figures.

In the end, Chain.com is a GREAT domain name, being developed by what appears by a company who is starting to find themselves. Yes they played around with some stuff before (like the Albumatic app) but I think they have found something they are very passionate about now. I say this, simply by reading the blog on Chain.com . You can see and read dedication and passion and it’s something I see in the few article on the blog.

The Chain.com domain name gives them some great power, showing they are serious! This isn’t “only” for Bitcoin, as there are many things the block chain can and will be used for in the near future.

Chain.com has also obtained the Twitter user name of @chain . This may be a story in itself, but I’m not sure how all this goes down.

Congratulations goes out to the Chain.com “gang” and the seller!
