Two very nice 4 letter generic domain names are now off the market! Drip.com has been sold by Bryan Graves / NameZoom. Bryan has owned Drip.com since about October 3, 2007 according to whois records. Currently, it is unknown who the buyers of Drip.com are, but the domain has been transferred into SafeNames, which is a pretty popular brand protection registrar used by several large companies.

I did check trademarks for the term “drip” and there have been two filed in 2014 that I can see but do not mean the domain purchase is connected. One by Drip In Inc. and one by “Cole Egger”. Both trademarks are related to “software”.

Dunk.com was purchased by Perform Media Services Limited according to whois records.

PERFORM commercializes multimedia sports content across internet-enabled digital platforms, driving revenues through a mix of Content Distribution, Advertising & Sponsorship, the development and management of Subscription Platforms and Technology & Production.

Perform Media also owns and uses the generic domain name Goal.com and is used for a soccer site, one would have to expect that Dunk.com will be put to use for basketball.

Both domain name sales are clear six figure domains and maybe higher IMO! I say this because of the end user buyers and publicly reported “4-word” domain sales, many in the six-figure range. Yes, the domains could have sold for $xx,xxx.

I did reach out to Bryan to see if he could share any details on the Drip.com domain sale but he could not due to a non-disclosure.
