Domain Movers Special Addition Domain Name Sales

Ron Jackson of DnJournal.com posted DomainNameSales.com’s Q2 reported domain name sales and these are always very interesting sales IMO, because DNS always maximizes domain name sales and will often produce domain sales prices many wouldn’t ask for specific domain names. So, I spent a little time and did a little digging to provide something other than just a number next to a domain. I didn’t dig the whole list (wish I had more time) but here is a nice sample:

SureSource

Has purchased the domain name BrandShop.com for $22,000 on behalf of a client or for in-house use. The transaction likely took place on or about May 8, 2014.

SureSource operates independent online stores, each dedicated to selling a brand’s full product line directly to their consumers, complementing that brand’s current efforts of selling through traditional retail channels.

A&E Television Networks, LLC

Has purchased the domain name PlanetHistory.com for $17,500 . The domain had a buy it now of $32K. The domain was owned by Frank Schilling’s Name Admin Inc. The site is live and Planet H™ is a new brand extension from HISTORY, designed for kids ages 7-11 to explore historical topics and eras through play. Planet H™ provides boys and girls an animated world of entertainment, and high-quality content that parents can trust.

So it’s called “Planet H” and they trademarked that… but spent $17K + on PlanetHistory.com but do not own PlanetH.com, which was registered in 2003. Interesting, but I also like they are using the full name, but it’s confusing to have “PlanetH.com” and “Planet History”.

Citrix Online, LLC

Has purchased the domain name ShareConnect.com for $16,000 . The transaction likely took place in April 2014. The site is live and is an Ipad app.

Ogilvy & Mather (maybe a client as well)

Has purchased the domain name DynamicContent.com for $13,000 . The domain name was registered in 2005 and was sold by Name Admin Inc.

Ogilvy & Mather is an international advertising, marketing and public relations agency based in Manhattan, and is a WPP company. It operates 450 offices in 161 cities of 120 countries worldwide with approximately 18,000 employees.

Earthlink Inc

Has purchased the domain name ELNK.com for $12,000 . The domain was registered in 2003 and the transaction likely took place in early August 2014. Name Admin Inc was the seller. This is Earthlinks stock symbol.

TrueKey.com

Was purchased for $11,500 for a currently unknown company. Marksmen worked with CSC Corporate Domains on the purchase. PortMedia appears to have been the seller.

GO BANAN AS

Owners of MyWorkout24.com has purchased the domain name MyWorkout.com for $30,000.

eXscan

Which is a startup that protects the elderly from financial exploitation has purchased the domain name EverSafe.com for $45,000 and has become EverSafe. They purchased the domain name in the start of July 2014.

Based on what I can tell, the seller was PortMedia.

Jiko Limited

Purchased the domain name Jiko.com for $35,000 . Jiko is a social discovery app and based out of London.

Zyme Solutions Inc.

Purchased the domain name Zyme.com for $43,000 . Appears to be a domain upgrade. The domain forwards to ZymeSolutions.com but will likely be the flagship domain for the company.

vRide.com

Has purchased the domain name Ride.org for $35,000 . In an interesting twist, RideSharing.org sold for $39,000 (more than Ride.org) but whois hasn’t updated yet as to who the buyer was. CarPool.org also sold for $18,000 and whois didn’t update on that domain yet either, but these could all be connected.

The vRide.com idea looks interesting.

Akamai Technologies, inc.

Which is a very popular web hosting service has purchased the domain name StateOfTheInternet.com for $33,000 and forwards the domain name to http://www.akamai.com/stateoftheinternet/ displaying a report.

INVERSIONES INDUSTRIALES SERPIS, S.L. (AquaClean Technology)

Has purchased the domain name AquaClean.com for $28,890 . They are a textile company and were using AuqaClean.es among other domains.

AquacleanGroup is a fully consolidated company group operating out of Muro de Alcoy (Alicante), Spain. Designing and manufacturing fabrics for many different applications such as sofa upholstery, automotion or footwear, AquacleanGroup occupies a leading market position, standing out for its service and professional expertise, backed by over 50 years of experience in fabric manufacturing.

Schouten Global BV

Purchased the domain names Assertive.com and Assertiveness.com for $27,500 each. The company appears to be education related.

GoodAdvice.com

Which sold for $58,000 forwards to a profile page on YouPic.com: https://youpic.com/user/GoodAdvice

Not sure if the buyer is simply a photographer or if there is more to it.

Vapers IP, LLC

Which appears to be a newly formed company has purchased the domain name Vapers.com for $132,470

Likely relating to eCigs and Vaping etc. Coming soon page on the domain currently with a pretty cool logo.

Aura Network

Has purchased the domain name Aura.com for $175,000

The company page on Aura states: Aura is a distinctive air, a subtly pervasive characteristic seen as emanating from a person, place, or thing

During 2014 we have assembled a team of highly experienced mobile, server, data, web, content engineers, designers and senior executives drawn from leading Silicon Valley companies to build the Aura Network.

This will likely be BIG whatever it is, at least they have me feeling that way!

Sgrouples Inc.

Has purchased the domain name MeWe.com for it’s social networking site for $55,800. The domain currently forwards to Sgrouples.com

I wish I had a little more time to dig the info on some other domains from the list, so maybe I will do another round of these tomorrow. I didn’t have the time to get the domains the time they deserve for all the things we can learn from it.

  1. Jamie,
I noticed a few Southern California (San Diego area) real estate domains $10k-$20k each. I suspect it is the same buyer but Whois is privacy protect. I suppose in a matter of months a site should be developed and the buyer will become more apparent.

  2. Really like your end user sales report ,good solid prices for brandable/generics shows that the dot com market is getting stronger after a lackluster few months.
