Have you had, or do you have domain names you never developed into a website/biz?

I had about twelve domains that I recently let go. Only one was developed into a site for a friend, but she closed business, so I let it expire along with the others. I had plans to build sites for all the domains, but I had no time.

Do you have, or did you have domains you never developed?

about 15 or so that I own still that have good potential but I don't have enough time in the day to make them into what they need to be, so have left them blank.

I did this all the time. I used to buy domains and think they were good ideas, then I would just loose interest

Definitely, right at the moment I have 5 domains that where "ideas" at a point but quickly fell short as I lost drive to do them.

A pretty good collection here; a few dozen off the top of my head (a 3 char, quite a few 4 letter and so on). Some were abandoned customer projects (they said I could have the name), others ideas that I didn't complete, and still more that I just liked as a name with no clear idea what it could be used for.
    Guess I hoard a bit.

Have about 30-45 domains. I have culled them over the years, I used to have likely 70+. Most of the domains serve a purpose for complete Google domination... otherwise they are brand-able domains I haven't got around to developing yet.

Got about 15 or so for myself, with idea's brewing for years.

Domains are cheap, and if someone approached me to buy one I'd probably let it go for very reasonable price. Most of them are for projects related to our business (ie. Start with 'evo') so they are on the roadmap.

I have maybe 40 domains I need to do something with. Heck, I'm missing money... I have some of them parked at crappy namedrive and get a good check every month. I could do much better though, if I develop them.

I have developed a few and they tend to take up my time.

Have great ideas, but no time.

I would not let my domains go cheap... I've had most of them since the 90s and early 2000s, when I was more into domains. They are "clean" domains, with a great FAX report. :-)

I had about 70 domain names that I acquired over time with intent to develop. I kept 25, 15 of which are currently in use, and sold or didn't renew the others. 2 sold for about $3,000 each. 10 of the .com domains I dropped were picked up by others. Nobody picked up the .net versions I had to "protect my brand".

I think everyone is guilty of doing this but some of us might have a lot of them or just a few. We think of a name and think we just have to get it and think of ideas and then you completely forget about it. It does happen. I always say when I have time I will try and get this one going, but so far no luck yet.

    Currently about 8.

Got 9 domains in total (I had more, lost interest in them so I let them expire)

Those 8 are currently "redirect" only, they are effectively just to catch typos or incorrect TLD.

For example .com will redirect to .co.uk version etc.

    i have 4 of them

If you talk about success of domain names...

If you have 20 domain names for 20 internet projects... There will be always domain names that will be never successful.

The most frustrating is then the following. Sometimes, you bet on specific domain names & they never go through. On the other hand, the domain names from project that you didn't think to be profitable, bring you some money.

    Two life lessons:

    1.
Buy many domain names and expect to drop a big number of it.

    2.
Don't get involved emotionally with your domain names. The ones that is worth it is the one that bring you traffic and money even if it is not your favorite.

This hit home! I have several dozen domains I plan to develop when I have time. But I also have at least a dozen that I have lost interest in but just can't seem to let go ...

Have you had, or do you have domain names you never developed into a website/biz?

Yes, I have had many domains that I use only for monetization purpose. If I feel a particular domain has the potential to sell at a premium, I definitely go ahead and park the domain.

of course. I used to own one called "fish brain domain" not as good as i thought it was....

I had a few domains I purchased and never made into a site. So I just let them expire as I decided not to make the site for them after all.

But now I don't have any domains that are just sitting there unused.
