Rust Consulting delivers again as manager of the LCD class action lawsuit settlement funds

If you don’t remember who Rust Consulting are, let me refresh your memory; they managed the settlement and rebates from the infamous “Hank Alvarez” scandal for SnapNames in 2009.

Rust Consulting has been involved in managing the settlement process and funds for several other class action lawsuits, including one for Nutella that’s been pending for more than two years.

Following class action lawsuit settlements is important, because as consumers we are potentially entitled to millions of dollars from settlements that are the result of corporate violations at a large scale. If you qualify and don’t ask for your entitlement, the money goes to the lawyers that are already paid handsomely.

Today I received a hefty check for the LCD Flat Screen TV, Monitor and Laptop class action lawsuit; as a consumer I overpaid over the years as LCD manufacturers conspired with one another to fix and maintain high prices; from 1999 to 2006 I went through an array of such products that only now can be considered affordable.

The bottom line: consumers expect companies to engage in fair trading and competition, that maintains pricing in accordance to the demand and cost of manufacturing – not as the result of price fixing.

  1. I’m just curious what state are you in? I didn’t think checks would be mailed until this week, but you’ve already gotten yours. Thanks

  2. Hi Anthony – I’m in Florida. The check was issued by the State’s Attorney General.

    Good luck!

  3. Thanks for the reply and article. I’m in Tennessee and was told they would be mailed on Monday. Great to hear somebody actually received a check.

  4. Anthony, you’re welcome. I was pleasantly surprised as well 😀 This is only the 2nd such rebate I’ve partaken in. Can’t imagine the billions LCD makers made over the years. The letter stated that $35 million was earmarked for Florida alone.

  5. Yes I seen Florida received $35 million with checks averaging around $1800. I’ve received a couple of emails about the claim, but everywhere I read it says I will receive payment if a “valid claim” is received. Not sure how they verify if it’s valid because they didn’t ask for any receipts or proof of purchase. I contacted the claims administrator and they said I have a timely claim on file but no payment information. I’ll be patient and see what comes in the mail.

  6. Got mine yesterday and it’s a lot bigger than I thought it would be! Thanks for the heads-up that it was coming!

  7. Curious who do I call if I haven’t received my check yet?

  8. Can someone give me a phone number to call to see about my check? Please and thank you
