Sunday Thoughts, Updates, and Tips

We live about 20 minutes from where the New England Patriots play (not including traffic), and this afternoon I heard a really loud airplane flying over our house. I looked up into the sky, and I saw two fighter jets. I soon realized they were going to do a flyover for the Patriots game. A short time later I saw the flyover video on Twitter and it was pretty cool to watch. Anyway, it’s been a nice weekend and I hope you are enjoying yours.

We’re about to do some cookie decorating, so here are some updates and thoughts about the business of domain investing:

  • Sahar Sarid shared some good advice on Twitter yesterday, and I want to share it with you. “In one line, here’s the story of those who continue and push new TLD’s on consumers and domain investors who have little to no interest in them: Always question and question hard those who have a way to benefit financially from what they’re preaching.” Whether you are reading a blog, domain forum, Twitter, emails, or any other channel, always keep this in the back of your mind, regardless of the topic.
  • I wish DomainNameSales.com had a search functionality to be able to quickly search for categories. It’s not too difficult to use the drop down menu, but sometimes a topic isn’t clearcut, and it’s a bit annoying to have to search the various drop downs to find the right categorization.
  • In that vein, regardless of whether you are investing in new gTLDs or not, I think it’s a wise move to read as many viewpoints as possible.
  • Unless I make a great sale or two in the next 6 weeks, this year is going to fall short of the year I had in 2013. I’ve been turning down lots of offers, but sales are down from last year’s record setting year. In the meantime, I have continued to buy names in the aftermarket to improve my portfolio. I don’t know about you, but it seems like great .com domain names are getting more expensive and more difficult to buy these days.
  • The submission deadline for the NamesCon auction is coming up soon. If you want to submit a domain name for consideration, send an email to info at rightofthedot.com with the domain name and any other pertinent info.
  • I suggested explaining the replacement cost of a domain name to a prospect, and BullS shared a great suggestion.

WOW WOW, I am in high heaven!!

With this kind of compliments, my life is complete.

Thank you MarijuanaGuy for the creative strain.

Real estate,3Ds, drones, stocks, and of course marijuana are the 5 biggies in the year 2015!!

    Go Hawks!!
    2015 Superbowl champs.

  2. Adding search functionality for finding categories would be great at DNS and I hope it will be added as the entire team of DNS is as always busy in implementing new things all the time.

I too think good .com domains are getting more expensive these days and competition has risen with many new faces joining this industry…

  3. Question everything but don’t be a paranoid freak.
Not everything you read is being written for a financial motivation. This might be though.
