    All rounder company name

    Hello,

Please move this thread if in wrong section.

Say I wanted to create a all rounder company. One that does Web hosting, graphics and even seo marketing etc.

What ending would be a good name?

    For example

    (CompanyName)Hosts
    (CompanyName)Hosting
    (CompanyName)Media
    (CompanyName)Studios
    (CompanyName)Design/Graphics

Just checked. Studios and Media is taken . However there is one (companyname)Web) available I'm not sure if that sounds right or not.

    Why not just *CompanyName*?

Since you will be doing web hosting, designing, seo, etc; by having a name ends with "Host" or "Design", visitors will think that you are specialized in that field only.

Well, that's just my point of view.

Well just "CompanyName" would be taken of course. For example lets take hostgator or liquidweb. Just gator.com would be taken, liquid same thing.

I've seen quite a lot of companies that have (companyname)design/host then all rounder service.

Yeah thats right, exactly what I was thinking too, visitors may think only specialized in one thing. Anyone else have ideas to overcome this problem?

Studio/Media will be more suitable since you offer multiple services that cannot list under single category. Go for "web" in my opinion.

I'd go for the Media suffix as it gives you the most freedom.

Then it might be advisable to come up with another one. If it exists as a service in the same fields now, that will likely cause some issues later on down the road. Be unique in naming your company, then buy up the additional variants, too.
    mygroovyname.com (net|org)
    mygroovynameDESIGN.com
    mygroovynameHOSTING.com
    ...and so on.

Find the right name and build on it instead of seeing someone else's name and building on that.

    Where are these definitions found?

@i7Grendel media is quite good, however for a web hosting provider it doesn't really looks professional imo.

True, but it depends on your business model. If you are a web design company which offers hosting on the side, you need a different domain than a hosting company which offers design work on the side.

You could always launch them under separate brands if needed. Lets say you have your hosting as CompanyHOST and then your design as CompanyDESIGN. You can always use CompanyWEB as your main place.

Use the shortest and catchy name.

I think it's the best solution, you can use sub-domain or sub-directory instead for example
    seo.domain.com or domain.com/seo

Finding a good name will likely take a few days of effort. All the obvious names are already taken, but every now and then you'll be surprised by what you can find.

I don't think sub domain would work. Because although these mini brands are in same category they are different things.

    How does CompanyName(Network) Sound?

I would normally make a list of nouns and a list of verbs side by side, see which combinations are registered already (that narrows down most of it), and then see if any of what's left sounds any good. Then from there see if those names gave me any ideas about related nouns or verbs. It doesn't hurt to use a thesaurus or scrabble dictionary either. Scrabble dictionary rather than a regular one as there are fewer words and the online ones will sort them by character length. Shorter names are better anyway so if you're combining two words together it's better if they're short words.

Early on, "trimhost" took second place compared to "ioflood" when choosing our company name. Since then we came up with a better name that we've registered (serverninja) but we've already built a brand around ioflood so it wouldn't necessarily make sense to change things now.

I've found a name which fits in but is .co.uk, I want to serve worldwide. Will .co.uk be a problem? We are based in UK. For example BLueHosts. The name I found is Blue.co.uk < Example. It doesnt mean anything the name but it's good. Or should I add a extension to the name. And what extension would be good?

Doesn't help with the strategy of how to choose a name, but bustaname.com is a pretty cool tool.

You can put in lists of words, optionally into groups, and it will see what's not registered in the space of {words in group one}{words in group2}.

It also has pull downs showing synonyms, so if one of your words is "rapid", you can add "fast", "quick" etc, with a button click.

I believe the links to register are affiliate links. Not my site, but full disclosure so this isn't read like I'm a shill

Hi I want to use "Web" but doesnt that give the impression of a spider web? Example LiquidWeb. Wouldn't it give impression it's a spiders web made out of liquid for some people?

  23. #23
Also will Web give the impression of all types of web services?

  24. #24
And how about the name fusion?

Bump, I am planning to add "web" is this good idea
