    * .NET Registry Price Hike

    We received following email from Resellerclub:

    //
    The .NET Registry will be increasing the prices of .NET Domain Registrations, Renewals and Transfers by $0.61 effective 1st February, 2015, and as a result, we will be increasing our prices..
    //

    The cheapest price will be $9.99 for resellers(also have payment gateway commissions). Some big companies will sell it cheaper price to end users. Making money gets harder for small companies everyday.

    I received a similar notification of a .60 increase. This makes a .net now already $9.29.

    Also a way to compensate for the ban of increasing .coms

    Depending on where you register the domain of course. This price hike on a Tier 3 NEO account shifts the .net price to over $10 (!) while a .com costs a mere $8.68.

    As prices rise, being cheaper goes up in value, so to speak.

    What I mean is, even though everyones prices may go up a bit, people that are still selling cheaper than most competitors will do the best, as no consumer wants to pay more if they don't have too.

    Not a big surprise, I think. It's good they are not increasing all tld (specially .info) price but only increasing .net domain!

    yeah got that news from internet.bs too 1yr .net price goes from US$8.79 to US$9.9.9 !

    namecheap has a move your domain special on Jan 27 for domains including .net for US$3.98 + 0.18 ICANN fee so US$4.16/yr so that's 52-58% savings for 1yr at least.

    Namecheap will most probably also increase their prices once the hike is in effect.

    yeah true, usually i renew 2-3 yrs in advance so doing the number crunching to see which is better

    internet.bs renew all .net in 3yrs in advance at US$8.77-8.79/yr

    vs

    transfer .net to namecheap for Jan 27 move your domain at US$4.16/yr 1st year, then move them back to internet.bs for 2nd and 3rd years at US$9.99/yr

    works out I save between US$150-250 doing the latter method depending on whether that US$4.16/yr includes whoisguard at US$0.99-2.88/yr per domain - contacting namecheap for clarification on whoisguard
