I just got email from GD that they have confirmed that they have received funds for one of my domains. That domain expires in three days. I have already unlocked it and ready to provide the seller the auth code if he wants to transfer the domain to GD. But my only concern is what happens if the domain is transferred into his account on Namecheap and after that he tells GD that I didn't transfer the domain? How will godaddy know if the domain has gone in the right hands or not?

You are now authorized to accept the transfer request of youdomain/com. You will need to contact the buyer through the email buyer link in your "Sold" section. If you need to access your account, go to GoDaddy Auctions and log in with your user name (or customer number) and password.

Go to My Sold List

IMPORTANT: If you have placed a "lock" on yourdomain/com at the current domain name registrar, you MUST UNLOCK the domain name before the transfer can complete.

We will send you the net proceeds from the domain name's sale in approximately 15 days.

Honestly they can't. The only way they could is if they transferred the domain themselves. This is like acting as an escrow agent. Otherwise the buyer can claim anything and there is no way for them to ascertain who is telling the truth and who is lying.

Almost all of the non-GoDaddy registered domains I've sold on GoDaddy and pushed to an account at the current registrar, I've had problems with the payments (delayed not cancelled). I've even had problems with about 25-40% of these domains, when the buyer has to put in a transfer request at GoDaddy. Payments are delayed by GoDaddy. This has become something which is taking up too much of my valuable time. So I've decided that in future, I will transfer the domain to my account at GoDaddy, and then push it to the buyers account. GoDaddy then pays me in less than 5 days. Cost to me: $8.50 for the transfer. Savings to me: About 2hrs work (all in with the transactions and communicating with the buyer). This is a no brainer, for me.

As it is a .com domain so I think it will cost only 1-3 $ to transfer it to godaddy.
But I am getting error when I try to transfer it. Unavailable For Transfer: probably because the domain expires tomorrow. If I renew it on namecheap it will get transfer lock for 60 days. I have sent an email to [email protected] and got an automated reply that I should expect a reply " within 72 hours." :-/
""We've received your question. You can expect a response within 72 hours.""
That's like 3 days? right?:-o

P.S. I already talked to Namecheap support. They say the problem is with godaddy system. The domain is unlocked and has no restrictions from namecheap side.

You can find coupons at GoDaddy for transfers in that you only pay $1-3 for the transfer? Auctions support usually replies within a few hours, not 72hrs.

Got reply from godaddy support.

Dear Sir or Madam,

The winning bidder has purchased a transfer as part of the auction package. You will need to renew the domain and provide the needed codes to the winning bidder in order for the winner to complete the transfer process.

If you have further questions please contact us.

As far as I know after renewal all registrars apply a 60 day transfer lock. Right?
The support didn't answer my question about that. I have asked them again.

Yep. It's a mess. I don't have any good suggestions apart from renewing the domain and asking the buyer to accept a transfer at NameCheap.

I talked to Namecheap live chat support and they said that Namecheap doesn't impose any transfer lock on domains renewed there. And I have 27 days to renew the domain after expiry date on regular rate.

I thought a renewal invoked a 60 day lock due to ICANN regulations?

If so. Then newbie191 should check his facts from NameCheap.

Tell the buyer you can't transfer it to GoDaddy because GoDaddy refuses to accept it and their support hasn't been able to offer a workaround. Then, create a second Namecheap account and push it to that. Trade the account for the money. Bit risky for the buyer, but not so much for you. If the buyer refuses, well... you've been GoDaddied.

About a week back I told Godaddy support that the buyer wants me to push the domain to his namecheap account. I asked them is it okay if I do that. I got a reply from them that it is okay and I can push the domain to his namecheap account.
I renewed the domain and pushed it to buyer's namecheap account.
I informed godaddy support about it.
But its been almost 7 days and I haven't heard from them after that.
This is the last email I got from them on January 28th.

Thank you for contacting AfterMarket Support. We have requested confirmation from the Buyer.

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Regards,
Will J.

They take longer to pay you if it's not a push at GoDaddy, as well.
