I picked up PRUNED.ORG

Wondering if it is worth anything,or if any .orgs are worth anything in general? Anybody have experience flipping a .org domain?

I know you can not go by Appraisal svcs, but Estibot puts pruned.org at $1000 and GoDaddy puts it at up to $3600. It's a single dictionary word, so I hope that helps it.

I'm curious to hear opinions on this and on .orgs in general. Thanks

Yes but only valuable keywords, like insurance.org, call.org, baseball.org, consult.org, etc. Pruned.org has no value, it's not just valuable because it's one word...

Maxx is right. The single-word .ORG names that are valuable are those that are a product or service that can be monetized. Not too long ago, I sold monoculars.org for $750. That keyword is not necessarily extremely popular, but it is a product that can be sold and no one would have doubt about what product is being sold there.

.Org names that are verbs or vague in terms of their meaning do not have much value.

Then again, you could re-sell it to domainers who see some value in it - just cause its a dictionary name. I know some guys here snap up dictionary .coms, .nets and .orgs. Don't expect to see huge offers though!

who bought monoculars.org? Did it sell to the owner of another extension? For instance, do you think pipe.info is a good domain? I just acquired the synonym for pipe. Do you think .com owner would like it? What about those who own 2 word .com with something like pipeventure.com, would they prefer pipe.info .sorry for the numerous questions

Speaking of pipes, I've had ppl here tell me my old pipedream.org was pretty much regfee.I promptly sold it for $400.

I see no use and no hope for even pruned.net, let alone the .org. But who knows? pipedream did pretty well

lol @ pipedream.org

I would have mentioned the domain but since it hasn't entered my account, I can't.

that's why i am using pipe.info but just know that it's something close that.

what I will like to know is do you think a company would rebrand to a word1.info and discard their word1+word2.com or word1-word2.com?

hope your get the drift? Where word1 =pipe

That's the age-old question: would ppl abandon a .com to use a shorter .OtherExt? In most cases, no. But I've heard of a few who did. And of a few I know of, they revered back to a longer .com Ya can't argue ppl prefer a .com over anything, typically despite its length

I am curious how people sell .orgs as well as I have gotten some half decent ones but never bites.

Of course to have them come to you is best, but how would you market a .org and to what type of people. I mean selling something for a nonprofit is easier with .org, but when in comes to a product, who buys it? How do you find them?

I know I am asking a lot, but I have been reading around the forums and haven't found the answers yet. I am more familiar with selling .coms.

Honestly? Selling a .org (product) is a pipedream, in itself. You'll just have to throw it out there and hope to attract a hobbyist (a domainer who wants it for novelty purposes)

Thanks for an honest answer! I haven't done much with them in the past for that reason, but was curious.

As terrible as eBay is, it's easiest finding a hobbyist there. They typically have free listings, so it wouldn't hurt listing a product .org there @ $100 (or best offer), lowering your best-offer as you feel. eBay is rarely ever used by pros, typically only by amateurs and hobbyists. So you might get lucky :)
