Quality Adjustment? Modern Robbery? SmartName

SmartName.com is included in the title of this story, because they do “Quality Adjustment” to domain name parking revenue. Google also does adjustments to “final earnings” for adsense, but on a daily basis from what I have seen. SmartName does it on a monthly basis. I’m sure a lot of companies do it in some fashion.

So what the hell is this “Quality Adjustment”? No fucking clue… other than on digital paper, these bastards are stealing my money! Mr CEO needs a new car? Mrs office CEO under his desk needs a trip to the beach to stay happy? I don’t know… BECAUSE NOTHING IS PROVIDED TO ME WHAT WAS ADJUSTED! Why was it adjusted? Must be a secret!

Domain parking wise, there are a lot of chumps that will do click fraud on ads displayed on domain names they own. I have never once clicked an ad on any one of my parked domains or websites. NEVER. Tracking clicks I’m sure is a hard job, mainly computer aided I would guess…

If I’m told I made $5 today, then I made $5. If I’m later told that I was over paid for today by $1, then I say why? I’m given a reason, clearly showing the reason. If I’m overpaid and it’s proven, I’m more than happy to give it back! If I fill up on gas and pay $50, does the gas station call me up the next day and say, “We had some bad ass gas in our tanks and now you do”. Is that a good bad or a bad, bad? You owe me $75 now? What? It’s bad gas, give ME $25 back and we will call it good? Good!

My point is, I am shown the following:

quality-adjustment

Other than the term “Quality Adjustment” and some math to the right (which doesn’t seem to add up anyway) there is nothing explaining to me, the customer, what “Quality Adjustment” is. Why did it happen? Did they remove it all from one click? was it a couple hundred penny clicks? who clicked these bad clicks? bad clicks? Did the ad provider not pay up? what’s going on?

Maybe my “Quality Adjustment” next month will be $80.83 because right now, it’s looking like a trend. One other trend, is the fact that the PAID DATE is empty for the past two months! Did SmartName run out of money? Parking companies are pretty much dried up and gone! GoDaddy giving up (they own SmartName) I’m not sure what the deal is and I asked what the deal is early this morning directly to SmartName.com… and I didn’t hear anything back (go figure)! They didn’t reach out to me last month either on the non-payment…

Stinky!

Two missed payments, unexplained “Quality Adjustments” and no customer care reply! These “Quality Adjustments” are nothing new, as I have had 6 of them total, dating back from 2008 when I first started using SmartName.com. One was a penny, one was nine cents, one was $21.32, and another penny! The past two were $80+ each. I have never been given a “report” on why, what took place, this was the reason and so on for the “quality adjustment”. Most of the time it was under a dime, so who cares. Stakes are raising, payments are not being made… so real answers need to happen, because I care more now.

Is this happening to you? Where you ever given proof of the “Quality Adjustment” or did you just go with it?

This isn’t just a knock on SmartName, these “adjustments” happen often and again, I have never once been shown REALLY what these adjustments were, why they took place, when and what caused it, how was it determined and why was it reported to me, then taken away? Did you not report something to me? How can I see that? Are you really paying me what I earned?

Oh yeah, SmartName.com played this little game and closed my account and kept my money back in 2013 as well, but that was resolved! SmartName.com is GoDaddy owned, so I expect MUCH better from them, than this. Plus, I want to SEE all these “Quality Adjustments” and have explanation as to why they took place, because I deserve to know!

  1. Isn’t this what people are suing google over, basically giving advertisers rebates on their suppliers products, and in return getting more business at the cost of the supplier of clicks.

Does what? “Quality Adjustment” yes, not tell you what / why they did it? I think we as customers are putting way too much faith in these companies as to what REALLY is this “Quality Adjustment”!
