Death threat via Domain Name Sales results in FBI report over domain pricing

Just like statements of impending suicide, death threats should always be taken very seriously.

A person inquiring about a domain name on Frank Schilling’s Domain Name Sales, did not like the domain owner’s pricing, and threatened him with physical harm:

“Likewise regarding attitude. The default message from the service you’re using/set up to sell your domain recommended a starting offer of nearly $3000. Talk about attitude.

I think domain name squatters should be shot. Hope you burn in hell you fucking leech.

It’s not even that great of a domain name, so go fuck yourself.”

The domain owner reported him to the FBI, providing all the evidence; hopefully the prospective buyer will learn a lesson or two about domain names, and how not to threaten someone.

The exchange via Domain Name Sales is below; we’ve blurred out all the lines that’d identify the seller or the buyer, as the case is now handled by the Feds.

  1. Don’t you love domaining?

  2. Come on, is this a death threat?

Website Value – I’m sure it qualifies as a very serious threat to engage in physical harm.

    Kosta – I know, right?

I thought this was satire when clicking the post title… wow.

  5. DomainGang says:

David – No satire, the “100% true” graphic will tell you that.

So is this a case of keyboard bravado or a real threat? The seller does not need to find out, life isn’t a lotto.

I put my real address as I’m scared of neither. However, since still in transit, I’m not disclosing this one for certain purposes. 🙂

  7. Bob Smith says:

You have to love freedom of speech… it’s PERFECTLY LEGAL to threaten someone as long as it’s not the president, a member of congress, police officer, or judge. (I believe government employee now also).

So I understand where he is coming from… I have seen ok domain sit for years and years and years because of GREED and this is why .co, .app, etc has come out. In time these huge bucket domain squatters are going to get nothing for their domain name.

  8. DomainGang says:

Bob Smith – Of course you have the freedom of speech, as long as you are ok with the consequences.
