GoDaddy Public Auction Cancelled!

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Does anyone know if (Personal info edited out at op request) is a member here? I won 4 No Reserve Public Auctions on Godaddy yesterday, promptly paid, and then today received a message that the seller no longer has control of them. I call B.S. All 4 domains are registered at Godaddy. I don't usually call people out but Godaddy said that they cannot do anything about it.

Domains I bought:

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I remember someone on this forum talking about being the owner of gunprinting.com..

I believe that @Magicpig2 owns these names.

I dont want to accuse him of being the seller but I know he has definitely been the owner of all these names at some point.

Hope there is just some kind of misunderstanding

I hope you guys will solve it.
I am also quite concerned about this " new trend "

seller no longer has control of them

that seems to occur quite often lately.
I wonder how someone can not have control over a domain anymore. What the hell does that mean?

Hi. I've been in lots of contact with Godaddy over the last few hours as I had the shock of my life when I discovered my entire portfolio of over 400 domains had been put into a Godaddy auction, but not by me. The guys at Godaddy had never seen anything like it before and we can't work out if somebody hacked into my account or if there was a glitch, but as somebody who's never used Godaddy auctions before to sell domains, it's not something I would ever use and apologies to anyone who may have ended up bidding on one of my domains, but they were never meant to be for sale in the first place on Godaddy Auctions.

@Magicpig2 Thank you for responding.
All godaddy would tell me on the phone is that you backed out on selling the domains, your auction account was cancelled, and to use the whois info as a way to contact you. I understand stuff happens sometimes and what you stated seems legit.

Please let us know the details. Sounds like more than a glitch. A seller has to give additional personal info to GD before they are allowed to list domains.

Not really...apart from where you want to be paid.

You must give your name, address, zip code, country and phone number. Acknowledge and certify (swear to) your tax status and other tax related info. Provide your signature (legal) and indicate how and where to send payments. This includes personal bank account info, such as bank name, address, routing number and account number, if so chosen. That's more than just, where you want to be paid.

Besides, this is not the issue here.

That is when you first register for an aftermarket account. Once you have registered it only takes a couple of steps to put domains for sale.
I only gave them my PayPal account, no bank details and only filled the famous w-8ben.
So if the above details were provided at the beginning and the account has been hacked it would have been easy to put them to auction.

On the other side I don't see why someone who hacked your account would put the names to auction instead of stealing them if that's the purpose.
If I had to put my money on something I would put them on GD having messed up something!

You mean, GoDaddy can't tell if your account was hacked or not? GoDaddy has access to all of that information, so I'm sure they can see which IP's logged in at which times and would probably be able to figure that our pretty quickly. I also find it a little strange as someone most likely wouldn't hack your account, just to list your domains in the auction platform.. Seeing that your auction account has now been disabled makes me think there might be something else going on here.

All I could say on the matter is, If you're going to list your domains in auctions anywhere then it's only right to honor the sale of them (unless the reserve isn't met). If I'm not mistaken, GoDaddy usually does allot for you to even list a domain, including sending an email to the whois address with a link that needs to be clicked for confirmation.

Basically, I can't figure it out at all. Aside from having a domain name stolen, I consider finding out that the best domains in one's portfolio have sold on a Godaddy auction, is a domainers worst nightmare. Godaddy have been really helpful in assisting me in sorting it out. I agree that anyone hacking into my account wouldn't necessarily put over 400 domains into an auction, but also having never submitted domains into GD auctions before, I imagine it would be a long process to submit so many domains. The first thing I was advised to do was change my password and 4 digit pin code, but it's still worrying that this could happen again. Have never heard of this happening before and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy....
