I saw this quote on domainshane.com today:

"The poor product domains are getting abandoned by domain investors in favor of brandables."

And it's .net.

Worth $800-$1500.

I'd spend the money on gamingkeyboards.com or analogsynthesizers.com rather than keyboards.net. Too vague and not brandable and .net.

I think you paid the mid reseller range for this one. You should find people prepared to spend more, but to get mid $xx,xxx you need to find an end user. If I were you I would try to negotiate with a few of those that made mid $x,xxx offers and try to get them to high $x,xxx or low $xx,xxx and sell it..

Yea that sounds smart. I have contacted a few companies but only 1 replied. Is thrre a secret to finding these end users and how to approach them? Maybe i just contacted wrong companies. I wrote "keyboards" on google and contacted some that came up

The secret is that you need to contact many of them and that you need to talk to the guy in charge.. Don't think that sending out 10 emails will get you a mid $xx,xxx sale.. It might, but there is a very small chance of it happening.. Have at it and eventually you will get success if you don't give up.

http://dnpric.es/stats/stats-by-year/?sy=today&tld=net

Burgers.net - € 2,500.00 EUR
Photographs.net - $ 3,400.00 USD
Helicopters.net - $3000 USD
Metal.net - $2300 USD
Pubs.net - $2000 USD

Those are all .net sales from the past 2 months.

Good luck, but I think my appraisal is solid.

OMG DNA.NET - $4800 <-- STEAL

You can still take this 0-100 real quick. And remember keyboards also means gamer keyboards and tablet keyboards - two really cool niche markets. Reach out to those companies not just music companies.

Do you have any experience with endusers and if so what is the best way of finding them? Do you just write "gamer keyboards" or whatever on google and see whats there?

The keyword targets three industries: music, gaming and computer. If you are lucky enough to get the interest of someone from the gaming or computer community you will likely get around $5K to $15K. Expect a lot less if your end-user is from the music industry. I don't have first-hand experience selling domains like yours but I based my comments on past sales of related names.

Put yourself in the mind of a potential enduser. Who would want to own it? why? how can you market it to them best?

Some companies would see the immediate value in a name like that and require nothing more than a short email.

Some will need you to sell them the dream and explain why this is an important marketing opportunity and what the name can do for them and their business.

And yeah i'd start with a google search, but it will take some additional research. study the market. a new up and coming company might be open to taking a $10k marketing shot to establish themselves. A big company may want this name as a defensive registration to keep it away from competitors. There are so many factors to consider.

Yea i havent contacted any gaming or computer ones yet lol that makes sense.

@Beezy never thought of the defensive strategy you mentioned. Very true

This is a valuable .net domain name.
Any user/company of computers/music instruments or gaming addict will be interested in acquiring this domain.
Companies all over the world try to get more exposure by registering the most relevant domain names to their products.
Based on the potential of this domain name, I estimate it's end user price to be $1x,xxx.
The consensus is that .net domain name value is approximately 10% of the value of .com.
But this is a rough estimate which is not always accurate.
I presume that the previous sales of this domain name were of resellers prices only and each reseller gave up on the opportunity to sell it for a reasonably higher price.

I suggest to not only apply for top domain on Sedo but also to apply for Sedo domain brokerage.
It will be hard to find end users without domain brokerage.
Be prepared to wait months or years till the right buyer(end user) comes along.

Note: Sedo decline the majority of top domain applications, so don't count on it.

Good luck :)
