Hi everyone,

I've a question about 2 domains that I've registered couple of weeks ago !

Googlised(.)com and Googliser(.)com ...

The first one is a synonym of "Googled" with an analytic dimension and the second one is a french verb (officially in the French dictionary) but could also be use in english ... I'm seeing more and more of these words on web

Big question: what do you think of their value ? And who would buy them ?

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I think nobody will buy the domains and use them for their business, too risky.
No value for me.

Neither in english make a bit of sense.
And then there is google.....who may want those domains because hey, google is their name, their brand, their trademark.
Value?
Nothing as far as I can see.
And who would buy them?
Maybe some newbie to domains?

Ho really ? Ok for the trademark ... What about the fact that one of them became an official dictionary word ? Doesn't it change some rules ... ?

So which one is the so called dictionary word?
Urban dictionary is not a real dictionary.
Is it in Merriam Webster?

That is a fine line, imho. If you try to profit from their brand then you are picking a fight with them. If you use the names for something that has nothing to do with google (and I can't imagine what that might be) then you still might end up having to prove that in court. Either way, this is a trouble area. The fact it is in the dictionary is not enough. In Latin America people say Chiclets to refer to any kind of gum, it is part of their vocabulary, but it still is a registered trademark.

I am not in France, so could care less about that.
Now you are trying your best to legitimize your domains.
Good luck with that.

"Googliser" ... I'm french ! I know what i'm taking about

fr.wiktionary.org/wiki/googliser

The "Petit Larousse" dictionary is like an institution in France...

It doesn't change the fact that it is trademarked. It still relates to Google. It only shows that the word is common enough in the French vocabulary that it merits an inclusion in the dictionary.

If Google didn't exist, you would have never gotten those domains, am I wrong?

And about trademarks, what if a trademark is registered in a specific country but that I'm having almost the same name in another country where this trademark is not registered ... I'm taking about .com domains ...

Could I have trouble ?

That's the question you should have asked yourself, when you registered the domains. No ?
If there is no potential buyer, there is no value.
