Delete Domain after Transfer-in

How do different registrars handle this situation? Do you know if there is any difference between registrars?

I have domain X registered at Registrar A. I transfer the domain to registrar B.

After the completion of the transfer i request the deletion of the domain.

I believe that some registrars do not allow the immediate deletion of the domain.

And you believe correctly.

Once a registrar deletes a domain name especially upon request, there's no turning back.

Why not just delete it at the losing registrar?

:xf.confused: if you delete domain from A, it can't be transferred to B.

IMO.

Some registrars allow you X amount of days to recover a self-deleted name. Otherwise say, bye bye.

Yeah, but you won't incur a transfer fee in the process. I don't see the point of transferring from A to B, just so you can delete it on B. Or am I missing something?

yes you are correct. I don't necessarily intend to do that as there would be nothing to gain from that. It could happen that you just moved a domain from an other registrar and decide to delete it shortly afterwards.

To give an example:

I buy a domain at an auction or dropcatch it(with an API for example) and transfer it to another registrar. (not so unlikely scenario). Then i find out there is an issue with the domain (e.g trademark, domain was involved in something illegal etc.) and i decide the domain is not worth the trouble and want to delete it.

So i wanted to know how registrars handle deletion requests that occur briefly after a domain was transferred to them. Is there some kind of 60 day lock or something like that?

There may be grace delete periods for x number of days but you can always explain the situation to your registrar's support and they may process the deletion for you. That's what I would do if I couldn't delete something manually but needed an urgent deletion. You may or may not loose the transfer fees though.
