Coca Cola is Doin’ Good, well #doingood Not DoinGood.com

A little intro: The Coca-Cola Company is in the process of launching an ad campaign that parents are doing good! Since Minute Maid’s tag line is: Put good in. Get good out. they are doing an ad push with the hashtag #doingood to let parents know that they are doing good.

So, just being me.. what am I suppose to do when I see the hashtag (I’m good so far because I know what it is) but I don’t use Twitter much, if ever. I do not use Instagram. I mainly only visit websites!

I typed in #doingood into my address bar and got nothing! I hit up the big G and nothing from Coca Cola or Minute Made above the fold..

Well, I guess I’m not #doingood now and I feel lost!

Hashtag Vs Domain Name

Yes, I know what a hashtag is and I know people use them on many social networking sites but what about those that do not use those sites? I want to learn more about it on a website that is controlled by the company. I want to see the product and why I should buy it! Safe and securely! If I want to find reviews about the product, I will look around on Google, Amazon etc.

This “problem” isn’t something new. Hashtag displayed in an ad, no domain name displayed! (scratching my head)

Well, Coca Cola spent $2,088 and purchased the matching domain name DoinGood.com from BuyDomains on December 26, 2014.. so why not use it? Why not display it in the ad for those who do not want or use hashtags?

Well, DoinGood.com at the time of this article does not resolve. No website. No message. Not doin’ good.

MinuteMaid.com wrote an article about the ad campaign… at least they could do is use the $2K investment into the domain name and redirect it to that article. Maybe redirect it to Twitter and the hashtag? Really, since I do not use any of them, just put up a one page lander on the domain!

Coca-Cola did good in buying the exact match domain name to the marketing message they are putting out, but not good with no use of the domain. Not “everybody” is a hashtag kind of person, even this old guy (38)!

In general, I always sake my head when I see only a #hashtag displayed in any ad. No action from me and I’m sure I’m not alone. Domain names are so powerful, these companies are just silly for not using them ALL THE TIME!!!! Domain names are well known, hashtags are not. Hashtags do not direct somebody to “one” location, domain names do. Companies have little control over #hashtags, but they do with the domain names they own and use!

    1. No it isn’t Leonard! I drink only water and beer 🙂 Haven’t drank soda in maybe 15 years.

  1. Thanks Jamie. This is the first time I have seen this subject covered on any of the blogs or forums.

I rarely if ever use social networks and am not even positive what a hashtag is or how/why they are popular..

Call me old school if you wish but would not know how to use a hashtag and have never had the occasion or inclination to figure it out.

  2. Minute maid orange juice is that what they call it orange juice. I wonder if they are using “flavor packets” in the juice?

I will take costco orange juice over that stuff anyday.

I wonder are they doinggood or doingood. I guess they went with the slang term.

The only way to get real orange juice with no flavor packets is to buy 10 non-GMO oranges and squeeze away.
Or buy costco or whole foods juice.

    🙂
