AuctionsByCellular Rebrands As Gesture.com

Back on January 7, 2015 I had detected that the generic domain name Gesture.com had sold and some five months later after keeping an eye on the domain to figure out who the buyers were, they have revealed! AuctionsByCellular rebrands to Gesture.com!

gesture-com

AuctionsByCellular works with charities, non-profit organizations, schools, churches, and political organizations nationwide to organize events that maximize revenue in silent auctions, direct donations, and live auctions.

The company was founded in 2011 by Jim Alvarez and Gesture reports that it has helped over 5,000 charities nationwide raise in excess of $150 million.

I think this is simply another case of a company that “gets it” and has just added a bunch of credibility behind the company just by the name. It isn’t “cheap” to purchase a domain name like Gesture.com and it shows IMO that the company means business by investing a large amount of money “just for the domain name” but consider it a brand in a box!

Gesture.com speaks for itself and puts “AuctionsByCellular” to shame! The company has found a niche and is doing well with it and now they have a great name to go with a growing business.

You can read the companies full press release here and I will still hold out hope that Adam Smadja, the seller of Gesture.com will share his story with us as I have been in contact with him several times now asking if he could share his story. Adam had owned the domain name since 2007.

The sales price of Gesture.com is currently unknown and I really don’t care if I ever know what it sold for, to me, it’s just interesting to hear the stories behind why or how Adam became owner of the domain… any interest from other parties over the years of owning it and what made him it sell it now. What are his plans after the sale etc. Again, I’m hopeful that Adam will share his story at some point.
