Sedo Vs Afternic Vs Others

In my personal opinion, right now seems like a good time to buy domain names from eBay. I have seen at times domains I have valued that have sold for $2...

Anyway I would like to know the following;

What are the Core differences of Sedo and Afternic, and any other selling service you guys would like to discuss.

I finally realized that to auction a domain on Sedo, you need to either receive and offer, or submit it to a themed event (I have missed out sadly on some of those).

Is it different to auction off domains in Afternic, or any other site, all feedback and shared knowledge is appreciated greatly.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi,

My name is Tim Bonehill, Customer Service Director with Afternic.com. I'd be happy to have a discussion with you to go over what Afternic has to offer, and I can fill you in on what makes our service unique. Feel free to call me 866-351-9586, ext 7984.

Thanks so much,

I'm not sure if my experience was unique, but I had a horrible nightmarish encounter with a customer service rep at Afternic™. I don't know her name, but she was insulting and rude beyond comprehension. The minute the call ended, I closed my account and never looked back.

I like your site MicroGuy, I would also be turned off by any company if I was treated in such a manner.

I have sold domains in both marketplaces and believe it is worthwhile to place domains for sale at TDNam as well (have gotten several offers at TDNam but still waiting on my first sale). Note the minimum commission of $60 at Afternic means you should limit the domains you place there to those priced at probably $300 or more. SEDO commission are 10% of the sales price if the domain is parked there for 60 days so theoretically you could price a domain at $100 at SEDO and still walk away with enough to do dinner and a movie :)

In my opinion Sedo listing is very slow whereas Afternic is probably a better place to search the sales lists.

SEDO refuses to pay me 80$ I earned from parking my domain with them. They say that they cancel the income because of the inappropriate traffic sources. I don't know what kind of traffic they do accept and I don't care, to be honest.
My opinion is that they cannot just cancel all my income (from 80$ to 0$) based on the traffic sources. Besides, why does this appear in my account, anyway? Can't they filter the bad traffic so it will not register income?
I think that they scam people like me, small players with 2-3 domains that don't have much power to damage their 'reputation'.
Shame SEDO, shame.

As for the parking idea in general, probably it is better to associate your domains with a blog and write it there big and clear FOR SALE. Could reach a targeted audience and it might sell faster.

Sedo is getting worse and worse everyday; you just need to browse the forum a little bit to find many bad reports/experiences with it.
On the other side Afternic is a bit of a mystery so I am happy there is an employee here who could enlighten me about some aspects...
1) Why do we have to set the minimum offers @250?
2) How can we delete a name from our portfolio ( still haven't worked it out yet... )

Then I would also point out that the website is extremely low at loading ( and I mean it ) no matter what browser you use, it's slow at accepting the changes you make to any aspect of domains etc, filters are very poor and it's everything but user-friendly. Let's not mention the motion sickness that the sliding theme gives me every time I browse the site ( but that's a personal aspect... )

In conclusion I think we will see more people moving to Afternic ( hoping they will improve the website ) leaving sedo behind because of the poorness of parking templates, revenues, serious offers and, last but not least, support.I have heard many pros happy with Afternic parking features ( but I haven't heard any happy with sedo's ) and I have heard about many happy sales there. I think Afternic is a bit more " end user oriented " .

In your portfolio console, after checking off the domains you want to delete, scroll up to the top and you'll see the delete button.

I would rather sell on my own and use escrow services for high priced domains.
