What? - You cannot change the reserve price once a bid has come in.

This post is not to overly critize a new market place but to give you some valuable information if you are listing in freemarket.com I really like their freelisting feature because when we do the end user marketing what left is to direct them to a place to buy and sell securely. Also sale commission is just 5%

Case - I recently did a listing there. I had an XXX start so I wanted to keep the low ballers away. FreeMarket is full of low ballers, I noticed. Unfortunately I had an XXXX reserve because I did not know we cannot change the reserve. It was not mentioned anywhere. I received 1 XXX bid and that is when I noticed the problem. I informed their staff here as well as their customer support. Let me tell you they are very helpful and friendly but they couldn't do anything about effecting a change in their platform. They refunded the featured listing fee and offered free upgrades if I were to re-list the domain in the future.

As far as the listing goes, it ended unsold. The one bidder is not traceable so far. It would have been a profit sale for me if it was sold for that one bid; I got the domain in closeouts.

it's a general SOP for auctions.

once you set reserve, you can't change after receiving a bid

that's like being able to raise your BIN price, after receiving offer for that exact amount.

imo...

I didn't understand you. I am aware reserve can be lowered/changed in Flippa any time. Are we on the same page?

guess not.

flippo operates outside of traditional auction formats, which existed before they existed.

so, you shouldn't compare other auction venues restrictions or permissions, with them.

imo....
