I wrote about this some time ago, been following a .com domain for quite some time. I emailed the company several times, sent letters via FedEx and even contacted the CEO and other top staff through LinkedIn.

I received one reply months ago, from support and it said: "Unfortunately at this time we do not sell our domain names."

The only thing I haven't tried is calling which I will do but chances are I won't get through by phone either.

Has anyone used a service that would contact them on your behalf with any results? If so who? Also whats to keep the service from grabbing the name for them self?

I'd love to build a site on this domain, they're not even using it from what I can tell. Many have said they will wait till the last min. and renew but it's down to 30 days and I've pointed this out to them over and over. Looks to me they would have renewed it just to get rid of me.

I'd probably go as high as 10K for this one but if it drops and goes to auction I won't stand a chance as the big dogs will eat it up.

Again, if anyone knows a good honest company that would contact them on my behalf let me know. I've seen a few but honestly not sure if I should give them a try.

I'd prefer a NO from someone in charge, then at least I gave it my best shot.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
If you're looking for a well reputable company you could check out the Domain Buy Service from GoDaddy..Not sure how good it is, I've never used it. Still, it might be worth a shot!

I think it's impossible to find a broker who can help you obtain a domain from a business who responded that they do not sell their names at the moment and so at a price that is below what the big market players will pay - But good luck.

Unless it changes though, why would they not accept a nice offer when all indications appear at least for now they're just going to let it drop?

I put it in at GoDaddy, wonder if I should use more than one to contact them?

All indications? You said it's now within 30 days of expiration. How is that 'all indications'?

If I was getting pestered like this about a domain didn't want to sell I'd let it expire, get 29 days into the grace period, then renew it on the final day.

Do you seriously think that they are about to let a $10K + Domain drop? - They have probably put auto renewal on, so it renews itself when the time comes.

I think I'm persistent but I'm not pressuring them. JMO.

I've been looking for the renewal, you might be right, time will tell.

I didn't say pressuring, I said pestering.

You've contacted them multiple time through multiple venues. The fact that they haven't responded to you should tell what there response is - they don't want to sell to you.

You might be right but I've always felt like I haven't reached anyone to date that could make this call. It's a large company..

Do they not contact them?

Here's what they do. You hire them for 30 days (even though they stayed on for 40 for me).

At first, they tell you they are going to appraise the domain. (already at this point I'm annoyed...).

A week later, I get a lame designed certificate saying they appraised the domain that I wanted, that I would pay almost anything for - was worth $80.

Thanks. So now I get to talk to a broker on the phone. He says he sent email and they got no response (no shit, i sent emails for months and got no response).

He said he's going to call and he's going to give them a starting offer of $80 (i'm not kidding). I was like ummm...please offer more than that. "Well, we'll see how they feel about that offer first."

3 weeks go by, they are still attempting to do everything I could've done myself. Finally, they talk to the guy. "Good news, we spoke to the owner and he said he wants to sell. We will extend another 10 days to try to finish the deal for you."

10 days go by "Sorry, we were not able to make contact again. This closes our session for you."

I also tried Network Solutions' before this...it was just as bad.

They honestly can't do anything that aren't able to do yourself. What would give them a special power to be able to contact this owner?

1) You already contacted them and got the answer
2) It will be the same answer if you hire a domain broker.
3) If you could hire the best JP Morgan Goldman Sachs, etc, the answer will be "I guess we could sell it for $500k"
4) This is a lost cause at the moment, perhaps it will change in the future.

I remember another recent thread where some guy kept thinking in a similar situation that a company was going to let a domain drop just because it wasn't renewed <30 days. Someone that tells you "Unfortunately at this time we do not sell our domain names." Is not in the Oops I forgot to renew business.

Sending an FedEX to them a red flag not to sell/ or without proper value assessment.

Just think of it as a long term project, wish, hope, get lucky. Good Luck

Yes that was me but didn't want to dig up an old thread. You're correct I got a reply but from someone in support that might not even be up to speed. It was merely a stock reply IMO.

I'll keep trying, just wondered if anyone had any luck using any of these services out there. TY.

Talk about someone wasting some company's time and money!
Bad enough there are people who call constantly trying to sell things.
I would love to hear someone at the company say "stop bugging us you little shit".

Your not the first person to email this company about their domains. Support people don't just answer this type of question on a personal whim. It was asked enough in the past that is was put in the support guide and they pull the canned response because it is a policy of the company.

It might be time to find a different name. Lots out there. The fact is, some companies don't want or need to sell their names. Some names are important to them, mainly for projects that might not be live yet. I know some companies who use domains strictly for email or internal use and leave them undeveloped to the real world.

I have one but really wanted this .com. I'll give it another month and see what happens before I start development. Then if it does drop I'll see how crazy the auction gets too.

This is the same that is done by Sedo too. They were also not able to make a move more than what I have done for the name. They billed me so there was no loss for the 3 emails they send. I guess most broker services are just a JOKE.

If they don't want to sell, then their not gonna sell. You would have to make an offer they COULDN'T refuse...

Until then, might have to try plan B (if you have a plan B).

In a situation like that: show up in person and have your checkbook handy.
Or a suitcase of cash. Not kidding. This is how some deals get done.

But here you are not dealing with an individual, it is a corporation. You need the to reach decision maker. Not first-line support, they will brush you off.
