So I received a bid on a LLLL.com in Chinese, the bid is far more than I paid for the domain and the quality of it are not that high (at least for me as an European). Never negotiated nor had anything to do with the Chinese market so I am very inexperienced that way so I could use some input from you who possess some experience in this area.

How do I go from here, how do I find out if the LLLL.com actually means something in Chinese and how do you do when negotiating with Chinese buyers? (When you don't know their language that is). I know of Google translate et. al. and the quality is low for such services.

This domain is no top domain (In my eyes), but as you know it can be very different between different languages.
The bid is on $XXX so obviously it's not worth hiring a translator.

If you're not going to hire a translator then something like Google Translate might be your best bet. You could try searching the term (without extension) in Google.cn to see if a large number of results come up or not..

Hmm 796,000 results, is that large? There is also some sort of affiliate or news article site on the LLLL.cn but it's only one year old.

Is this their first offer? If it is, they will go much higher, imho. I'd ask between 5-10 times their first offer.

from my experience:

if the offer came via email, then reply in English

if they want the domain, they'll translate the message

imo....
