Encouraging message from GoDaddy

NameSilo
Watch
I recently had an offer on a domain name at GoDaddy auctions which I accepted. However, the potential buyer never responded, and was obviously a time waster.
GoDaddy sent me this message today which hasn't happened on any other platform with a non payer.

Please do not release the name, accept any transfer requests or perform a change of account for this domain!

We have cancelled the purchase of the domain and banned the buyer from future purchases at GoDaddy Auctionsยฎ. You are more than welcome to re-list the domain

It's about time somebody started to ban these people.

Regards

Ralph.

Nice to see they are going to take action against Non paying bidders.

Thanks

and imagine if you would have released the name without waiting.. could have been a disaster.

Namecheap has a slightly better, but still awful, marketplace. I routinely get pretty decent offers on domains I have in Namecheap's marketplace. The problem? Namecheap cannot enforce payment at all. And once a buyer makes an offer.. and the seller accepts.. the domain is then "locked" for future offers / selling in the marketplace.. until you manually contact Namecheap support and ask 5 or 6 times that they unlock it. I swear, I have never had them unlock it the first time I request it.. always takes multiple chats and requests. Completely stupid system.. and for a big company like Namecheap.. they should do better. Same with GoDaddy. Flippa is too damn expensive. Sedo sucks too (interface, expensive, etc.). Somebody should create a fair marketplace that works. NamePros marketplace is the best thing I've seen. But it's just a sub-forum. But still seems to work pretty good.

I don't know that namecheap has its own marketplace...

Glad to see they will start doing something to the non-payers. I still don't think it's enough to make non-responding buyers pay all the time, but it will definitely help!

Yes it is a good start; and eventually all of the non payers will be banned. When bidders get to know that they might be banned, they may start to behave themselves because one day there will be a name they really want (at the right price) and they won't be able to get it.

this is very irritating even they should get black listed on every domain auction site

this happens more times than i cant think of. I frequently receive offers for domains which i accept and never hear back from the buyer. Is a waste of time and is BULL

I thought Godaddy can charge the payment automatically from Buyer's CreditCard/Paypal Godaddy account that he/she has added for domain purchasing. Wasn't that the case earlier as I remember?

I think you are right; but GoDaddy said that they were unable to get the payment in this case. Perhaps the bidder changed or cancelled his payment method with GoDaddy. That could be why they were banned and not just warned.

One of my best domain has recevied an offer at $50k since last Thursday, I accepted it but it shows "Pending Buyer Purchase". For transactions are over $5k, they will be processed by Escrow.com, I have never had this experience and hopefully it will have a happy ending :)
