I have a good .travel domain registrar name.com I recently wanted to renew it. When renew the domain, I get an error. I contacted the registrar, and they told me that it is possible domain reserved.
But then they contacted the .travel Registry, and they were told that the old uin is not working and you need to start a new one. I registered a new uin.
I wrote to them that they have added a new, and I was able to renew. And today, they answer me
"
Ariel, May 11, 10:47 AM:

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. We have attempted to complete the renewal on your behalf with the UIN number that you provided. Unfortunately we received the same error: a new UIN is required"

I contacted customer support travel and received from them a letter
,"
Dear Colleague;
We have reviewed your application and you have been confirmed as eligible. You have been sent a confirmation by separate email. You may now go to any approved registrar to register any available name."

What should I do to avoid losing a domain?

I had a problem renewing some gTLDs I won at auction a year ago. They were not .travel though. .travel should contact name.com on your behalf as it's an issue between them and the register and not really you. It should not be difficult for you to renew a domain and hands off on your part other than paying the renewal fee.

It's an issue between .travel and name and they need to fix it for you. At least that's what it appears to be from what you posted above.

I've also had issues with renewal on a few I purchased from other domainers and had transferred into my GD account. Could not get them to renew but finally got the problem solved.

I would email .travel back, give them the name of the domain and tell them to please contact name and help get it renewed. There's a glitch somewhere...

Does this happen often? Where someone is unable to renew their domain name?

He received a email from support name.com

"The new number that you have provided is causing the error during registration. We received confirmation from the .travel registrar that this UIN number is invalid. To address this you will need to reach out to the .travel registry directly to resolve."

A support .travel writes
"
Thank you for submitting your application to hold.travel domain names. Your authentication data has been received and your eligibility has been approved."

First, I get asked that new number uin. I did. Now they say the new number is incorrect.
Support of .travel writing that all is well...

name.com asks me again to get a new uin, and support .travel not responding
I have a feeling that name.com or .travel want to steal my domain WWW.SALE.TRAVEL

Today I received a email from .TRAVEL

"Dear Colleague;
We have placed your UIN into a queue for approval of the renewal. The problem is that the name SALE has become the name of a new TLD and we were required to place it on reserve.
We have had to confirm that you registered the name prior to the contract for the SALE TLD so that we could allow your renewal.Your approval should be completed by the end of the day on May 26."

Domain renew. All questions are removed. Be careful your domains that match the new TLD

At first I was confused with all this UIN stuff but it appears the extension has restrictions. It's not because of the .sale extension, that makes no sense IMO.

Have you provided documents to own this domain as required? Maybe that's the problem, not sure?

"Any business, organization or individual whose primary activity is within one of 19 industry sectors identified within the travel industry. We've created a time-saving program that allows you to register your domains by using our pre-qualified .travel credentials. If you decide later to get authenticated and use your own Unique Identification Number (UIN) we can update your information at any time. If you already have a UIN number, simply provide it at checkout. Optional: Apply here for your own UIN number:www.travel.travel/index.php/register-your-travel/."

So if I'm reading this correctly you need a UIN from your business to use .travel, I could be wrong but it's how I'm reading the above. Did you apply for a UIN at the above link, or provide them with your business UIN?
