One of the best .io domain names. Congratulations to both the buyer and the seller.

I believe @Daniel Levi just made history! He just brokered the most expensive .io ever! :) Well done bro!

This is a great sale and i hope it gets developed? More sales like this with the .io extension will help increase the .io value and creditability.

What a great ROI.

It's a great name and "Cloud" is hot right now. Moreover, the "Cloud" keyword suits the IO extension.
No wonder it sold for $45k, might as well have sold for $100k.

.IO is best among new gTLDs, IMO, and I agree with you, It could have fetched more but still impressive flip.

The short-sighted, and hilarious thing about this is that the nGTLD .cloud will be released in just a few short months. I guess the buyer couldn't wait. But if your company has enough money (I imagine it was sold to a start-up that doesn't care about managing finances carefully) then it doesn't matter.

But of course congratulations go to the broker and buyer! This comment is not meant to be any hate on those guys. It's just to point out the wasteful spending and stupidity of some start-ups.

I don't know if it's really great news for .io. We already knew that start-ups like .io a lot. And furthermore, the name "cloud" is 1 in a million. It's one of the most valuable names on the Internet, but we also already knew that, so not much is new here.

It's a ccTLD (British Indian Ocean Territory), but I get your point.

Amazing sale! Congratulations!

.io isn't one of the new TLDs. They've been able to be registered since 1997/98. Cloud.io has been registered since 2008. The only other closest .io sales that I can find in the $xx,xxx price range was Doc.io which sold for $26,500 back in 2010, sports.io & seo.io which sold for $11k each, and analytics.io, groups.io, food.io which each sold for $10k. Congrats on the record breaking sale!

The domain name Cloud.io sold for a whopping $45,000 on Flippa.
Is this sale going to create a landmark and make .IO more preferable among domainers and companies??

Is this the next boat that we might be missing??

What do you think of the .IO domain extension from a domainer point of view and also from end user's point of view, considering that startups are preferring the matching .IO domain?

I am very happy to see that sale. This certainly does validate the value of .IO domains, especially when the name is one word and is tightly coupled with technology in some way.

I own a dozen or so and have sold a couple and have countless offers on the remaining - so I only see this as a positive. :)

Doc.io was $24,600 purchased by Microsoft, currently redirects to Docs.com.

Thanks for clarifying. I wasn't sure of the proper price it sold for since DNSalePrice.com reported two sales of the domain for some reason.

Strongly agree that this sale greatly strengthens the already hot .io domain extension.

'Cloud', a general, very relevant technology, when combined with the .io extenion creates a tremendous domain name for anyone competing in that space and I believe someone got an extremely good buy for 45k.

I just listed digitalwallet.io on Flippa and I expect it to do as well for the same reasons given what it represents.

There are dozens and dozens of digital wallet technology companies (many very large) already using the .io extension.

End users are being introduced to .io and are coming to expect solid technologies (technology companies) to be using the .io extension.

.io domain names are definitely worth adding to your portfolio if they are not already there.

Great payout, very risky for a 2008 hold. Patience and foresight.
