Selling traffic names at rev multiple

I'd be interested to know what is a fair revenue multiple when buying/selling a traffic domain.

In my case I have a .com typo of a generic one word domain (i.e. beautiful) that earns XXX per year. I have 1 year of stats, revenue is pretty stable except around the Xmas/New Year holidays where it drops a bit.

Curious to know at what multiple have bought or sold in the past.
Thank you

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i have bought names selling for as low as 1 yr multiples and sold some for more than 10 yrs rev

but it always depends on the actual domain and in some cases, where it was parked.

as all ppc's are not created equal

imo....

Considering that the earnings are true and have not being manipulated in any way then it depends upon the nature of the traffic, niche, length of time that it will bring income in the future ,etc.

Personally, I sell my domains on an average of 1 1/2 - 2 years in advance earnings
I also provide full details on the earnings by using above.com's 'Verified Stats' feature if the buyer wants it

Ok, in my case my name earns high 3 figures a year and is currently on pace to earn 4
I'm hesitant to sell for only 1000$. I was under the impression that traffic names were so seldom offered for sale that people were willing to pay much more than 1x

thanks for the answers

You should probably edit your original post to 'high xxx' per year instead of "x per year" I'm sure folks were thinking $1-$9 per year as I did. But at the high xxx range you most certainly can start commanding 2-5x multiple. But as biggie have mentioned, the domain and source of ppc income becomes more important as the multiple increases.

Thank you, good point, I've updated the post.
Much appreciated.

In my case it's 100% type in traffic. No referrer whatsoever.
In fact, I am pretty sure I was the first to every register this domain. It has no domaintools history apart from my whois.

I see domains go 12 months rev to 24 months rev. Not really sure anymore theres like one traffic domain posted every month or two here it seems.

There is really only way to find the correct answer here. Blind appraisals and valuations are nothing more than speculation. Personally, I would never buy a typo domain for a big multiple. Too much can change.

If you have a golden goose, appreciate the one egg per day for as long as it lasts. Don't try to get 2 years of eggs upfront !

Personally the only reasons I would ever sell any domain that makes me money is if I need the money for something else or I am closing shop. I don't see many reasons to sell a money maker in my book. Thats why I am always skeptical to bid on them. I always wonder why exactly its for sale.

I wouldn't take less then 36x to 48x.

Problem with selling these names is that most people selling them dont have monthly stats for that long.

Typical is 10-24 months. Like a lot of people are saying, it depends on the length of time the domain has been parked for, traffic stability & longevity and even if its a premium name of sorts.

So yeah, dont ever sell yourself short but dont be stubborn either.
