The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Why don't you simply post the domain names?

If they are making money the answer is yes, if a domain name can exceed it's registration it's worth keeping. Selling a longtail will be harder work though

I haven't yet regged them.. I have a list to regg... and choosing from those...
I am not towards .NET domains as .COM draws majority of the traffic

About making money, I just want to park them... and make some bucks..
And more over depending on the type of traffic..

I have few queries here
1. I f a user directly lands by typing "Exact Keyword"+.com
2. If a user lands on the page typing in google search. But why would google index a parked domain ?? and
In this case what are the chances of user landing the parked page?

I don't see many parked pages in google these days, perhaps longtails may appear but I would not buy on that chance, these days people are taught to "google" before direct navigation. I would not rely on unproven parking revenue myself. Many of the brandable investors don't make a cent but get some sales

CPC $40-$50 does not mean that you will get that in parking. Also you have to look at the traffic, is it seasonal or not. On an average, parking revenue is 5 cents per click. Parking revenues are about 20% of what they used to be 4/5 years ago. Only type-in traffic can bring you to parked page - very less likely you will ever get traffic through google search page, they pretty much banned parked pages. They are still paying very little amount to parking providers. If it is brandable name, chances are still less that you will get type-in traffic or revenue.

Some still make a killing parking domains.

From my own experience, 4% of global monthly searches will like visit your page via type-in.

This does not mean you will get the 200 monthly searches coming to your website just because you regged some domain names. In fact, the bulk of them will go to the paying sponsors and to the sites that are naturally ranking high for than search term. Your newly regged sites will probably be on page 20 of google and you will not get a single click except from a direct type in.

Buying domains just based on the metrics is pointless unless you are going to develop them, but the domains still have to make sense.

I had seen 98% of many long tails with hight CPC are regged and PARKED ;)
Why would some one do that...?

The question is "how many drop a year later?"

The question is "how many drop a year later?"

That's right..

As a newbie domainer I am still confused..in what direction to head for..

What should be my strategy to survive and make at least 2-3 sales in a year.
All advices are welcome

EXACTLY SPEAKING TO THE POINT.
WHAT IS THE CRITERIA TO HAND REG A DOMAIN?
1. CPC
2. TYPE-IN TRAFFIC ( EXACT MATCH)
3. TWO LETTER KEYWORD COMBINATION
4. LONG TAIL
5. NONE OF THE ABOVE

I had written tools to actually extract domain name combinations from google text search and check the cpc and in only find two letter domains with 2% probability.

Consider the aftermarket for better choices, you can buy a ONE name that already has value, you can place a wanted ad right here at namepros, be wary of traffic claims, only get two keywords that make sense when you speak out loud, safetylock = yes ........ bristlelock = no

what factors could I be looking into about traffic claims if the domain is parked.
I am planning to buy only Domain names rather than websites

If you decide to reg them, my opinion would be to make a basic 3-5 site for each, maybe capture some leads, use Adsense or Commission Junction for 1-2 years to try to cover the renewal, track all traffic with Google Analytics and then try to flip them later. Without some sort of aging, 200 searches per month won't get anyone excited.

See where the traffic is coming from and if there are any links to "bad sites" Of course you will want a screenshot but whether to trust the info is another matter. As mentioned some names sound right and some don't the ones that don't and have a large amount of traffic will be suspect in my view. Alexa.com will at least let you know of any existing links to the name/site. It could be said if you buy a name off a trusted member at a venue such as this, you would feel more at ease. Me, i have no desire to buy names solely to get a return on parking. Works for some but I have never really done well with parking so I am more of a "gut feel" kinda domainer. I am sure you will get other points of view ....... read them all

the other question is: how many of those names earn more than enough to pay renewal fee's each year?

#4. should be:. all of the above, including "common sense" and other factors, but excluding #3., because there is no such thing as two letter keyword combination.

it should be replaced with words or phrases.

also, #2. is invalid.
type-in traffic is NOT equal to exact match numbers from gkwt.
if anything, it should just be "exact match"

imo...
