I would sugest take all 3 extensions, .jp .com and .tokyo...

abcde.tokyo would be my choice

I'd go with abcderestaurant.com as the primary, then pick up the .tokyo, .jp and maybe even the .restaurant as extras.

abcderestaurant.tokyo (you didn't have this in choice) and abcde.restaurant if that extension is available.

I don't know about the other prefectures, but Okinawa, Japan is embracing .okinawa and I know several business owners who have traded their .com's for a .okinawa. If the same true up there, I'd go for the .tokyo as it'll become more and more recognizable for the locals as time passes. However, if the restaurant is geared towards serving expatriates and foreigners, then the .com would be best.

I would go for the .com & .tokyo in any instance and stay away from the .jp; .info would even be a better choice over the .jp as it's more recognizable (strictly speaking from an Okinawan standpoint, there may be some tunnel vision in these statements as we're so far disconnected... ).

I prefer it too above all because has more a "gift packaging"
It has a flavour of gift, a sense of "exclusive" more than the .com

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions . I registered both of them and decided to use abcde.tokyo as primary(in Japanese language) and another in English. From my experience of being in Japan for few months what I saw in Japanese people is that they are always attracted and amazed by innovation and beautiful(sugoi) things. Dot tokyo seems beautiful, new and also has "gift packaging" flavour as DonDraper said.Also I think abcde.tokyo expresses a sense of ownership to the citizens of Tokyo which is a good thing for service industry. Also from the story of .okinawa mentioned by David made me register other few generic .tokyo names. Tokyo is a great city with great people so psychologically it feels good owning .tokyos.
