Payment gateway for a website

    i am currently developing a website for a client that requires payment process system integrated. This is a local business that is based in Oman. Anyway everything is done and at first we agreed that I will use paypal since it's the most realible but now my client doesnt want paypal since paypal will process the payments in dollars (naturally) and not local currency.

    My question is what other option are there apart from building your own payment gateway system that i know is a mighty big task and very costly.

    Does your client have an alternative at this point? I'm not familiar with what options are available there, but they would definitely need to figure this one out before moving any further on development. Payment gateways are fairly regional, so they need to know what ones cater at all to their country.

    I'll just say, it is not anywhere close to reasonable to building a payment gateway from scratch. The actual coding for one is relatively routine, but the relationships with banks and processors is extremely difficult to nearly impossible in many cases. Unless you're going in with a 7 figure budget, as well as a substantial annual budget and support staff, and have a few thousand other businesses that are also going to use it, I think it would be a nearly 100% loss as far as expenses go.
