Question about Transferring Domain Away from Arvixe

Hey guys. I initiated a domain transfer a few days ago and got a code which i used to transfer the domain to name.com. I paid the transfer fees to name.com and wait the transfer to be completed. According to last part of the mail from arvixe, "If we do not hear from you by Oct 30 2015 9:46AM, the transfer will proceed." But on my name account now its showing Status:
    Transfer Submitted ETA: 1 day(s).
So it has not been finished. Whats the effective way to contact arvixe now considering its sevice declines hugely? Or should i wait one more day to see if it is completed automatically. My understanding is that if arvixe releases the domain then the domain should be pushed to my name account immediately. I suspect the problem lies in arvixe as the time mentioned in the mail has passed, but still transfer has not been proceeded. Anyone has some experience about this? Thanks for the help!

I had a similar issue with another provider. In the end the transfer went through in spite of them and it happened a couple of days after the time specified so you may want to wait a couple of days. Interestingly the domain appeared active in both the source and destination however the whois information registered the change.

You may find that Avixe is just a reseller for one of the domain wholesalers like Enom. Becoming a Domain Registra is far more expensive than starting up a hosting company so most I've seen are resellers.

If they are a reseller try getting in touch with the upstream wholesaler directly if you have issues. As long as you are the registered owner of the domain they may be able to release the domain for you or assist you in solving the issue. Just a thought.

Hi, thanks so much for your detailed input. You are right. I should wait a bit more. I received a mail from name.com telling that domain is transferred successfully a few hours later. Just glad all my concerns are unnecessary

Indeed, a domain transfer can be a nervewracking experience if you're not used to doing them. Glad to hear everything worked out for you.

Arvixe is indeed a reseller of both eNom and Logicboxes (EIG). Neither of those companies will offer direct help to their resold customers (any arvixe customer) and will refer you to reach out to Arvixe.

The process to release a domain to a new registrar is typically an automated one, and the only one that I know of that has a manual release function is GoDaddy. Everyone else will tell you to sit and wait, which is unfortunately the same level of control they have. From my own experience with reseller accounts, this is the same experience, I can't release a domain to the new registrar manually, despite how much I would do it to help you. Furthermore, if you ever do this in the future again, or for anyone reading this, make sure you change your nameservers first before initiating transfer, because it is usually not possible to change nameservers on a domain name that is pending transfer.
