What's a competitive PPC rate?

Hi, I am looking to rent an ad space in my public transport connection search application for Prague. It's got 2500 users and 4000 views per day.

I wonder what's a competitive pay per click rate that would convince advertisers to use that space?

Please note that I only want to show one campaign at a time in the app, there will be no keyword auction system. For technical reasons. Perhaps price per click should be fixed.

According to this site, the average price is about $1 per click.

I suppose the statistics are all taken from auction-based advertising systems, which means that if a potential customer clicks through, he's very interested in the goods because he has searched the topic. My application is not that accurate, it is not showing ads according to search, it is just simply showing some "random" ad. A potential customer clicks-through only if he's interested in the ad title.

Do you think it's a less valuable click-through than with a keyword match?

How much do you think I should ask per click?

    Thanks for any opinion.

I wouldn't pay a dollar per click. That's very high. I think your traffic is relatively low. However, it also depends on your niche. How valuable is your traffic? How much money do YOU make off YOUR own traffic? If the answer is very little then your PPC value to an advertiser is even smaller. I think instead of rerouting your traffic a way from your web sites for pennies you should focus on internally monetizing and coming up with a business model that generates revenue. It isn't worth selling your traffic at this stage.

I own one of the largest strip club web sites online. I sold ad spots dirt cheap to retain the advertisers business. Little that I knew I was pissing away MY money. I made a few minor tweaks by offering marketing packages and services to strip clubs and immediately saw a spike in revenue that could not be attained with selling MY traffic. I suggest you to rethink your direction.
