information Here's How 5 Thanksgiving .COM Domains Are Being Used

Spaceship Spaceship
In recent years, the Thanksgiving festivities have moved online somewhat. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals readily available across the Internet, and many people searching for recipe and gift ideas in advance of their Thanksgiving celebrations, the festivities have developed a substantial footprint online.

I thought it would be interesting to explore five common .COM domain names that are commonly associated with the Thanksgiving festivities. Are they developed? Are they parked? Do they feature highly throughout search engines? Let's find out.

Thanksgiving.com
The exact match Thanksgiving domain name has been developed into an excellent resource by Grateful Ventures; an online publishing company from CEO Kyle Cox who also runs FoodBlogs.com and SheKnows.com.

The website is designed to give you everything you need to plan the ultimate Thanksgiving, with recipes, gift ideas, and more throughout the site. In fact, it seems that the whole website has been well thought out to provide free information about every aspect of Thanksgiving.

According to Whois, Thanksgiving.com was acquired by Grateful Ventures in the middle of 2014 from DigiMedia - a company which owns other high-value domains such as Clinic.com, Society.com, and more.

Grateful Ventures also owns ThanksgivingDay.com, which is currently forwarded to Thanksgiving.com.

BlackFriday.com
The day after Thanksgiving. The day when the majority of America seems to descend into chaos to buy a discounted TV. It's an event that has made its way to the UK, too.

BlackFriday.com has been running since 2006, and it ranks very well across the search engines. Google searches such as "Black Friday", "Black Friday Sales", and "Black Friday Ads" all produce excellent results for BlackFriday.com.

It also has an Alexa rank of 521 in the USA, so it's a very popular seasonal site. The traffic to BlackFriday.com may well increase thanks to the introduction of the .BlackFriday gTLD, but this is only speculation.

BlackFriday.com displays ads for some of the biggest brands online, and I imagine this will be one of the most visited websites on the Internet over the next day or two.

CyberMonday.com
The Monday after Thanksgiving was originally named Cyber Monday to encourage shoppers to take advantage of online deals, and it has been a term in use since 2005.

CyberMonday.com was registered in October 2005 and has been used ever since by the National Retail Federation. It currently shows a website entitled: "CyberMonday.com - 365 Days of Incredible Online Deals", although traffic looks to obviously spike at this time of year.

As with BlackFriday.com, CyberMonday.com also ranks well for the exact match term. According to Google's Keyword Planner, the exact match term received 5,000,000 searches last November.

The domain has an Alexa ranking of around 38,000.

Thankful.com
The term "Thankful" is commonly associated with Thanksgiving, so I was interested to see what Thankful.com was displaying. This is another domain name owned by DigiMedia - an Oklahoma based company, and I like the very simple site that they have there.

The website is essentially a box with a piece of text that says, "What Are You Thankful For?" with a "Tweet" link to encourage its visitors to post the things they're thankful for, accompanied by a link back to the domain Thankful.com. The website was launched in 2013 in the wake of the tornadoes that struck Moore, Oklahoma.

Mayflower.com
The Mayflower shipped Pilgrims from England to America in 1620, and it has become an iconic piece of American history. It's a piece of history that also has deep connections to Thanksgiving.

Mayflower.com is owned and operated by Mayflower Transit, LLC - a moving company founded in 1927. The domain has been used by them since the registration of the domain in 1996.
