If you can wait a few days, Namecheap is doing their annual 'move your domain day'. You can transfer your domains for $3.98

    Hi Techno,

No to get WHOIS its $3.75 extra. I have a letter that they emailed me saying that there prices are going up. I'm going to to look for reseller site.

If you need WHOIS privacy, I always go with http://hover.com. They provided free WHOIS privacy, transfer price is $10.99, most renewal prices will be around the same though.

The renewal price increases are supposed to be for .net domains only based on their CP and the email I received.

As far as the price for whois privacy they have a discount code that lets you renew at $.99 each. The code <<not allowed here>> is found around the web.

If you want to transfer and need privacy then ******** is good and cheap with free privacy. Less than $9 per domain to transfer.

They're also banned from WHT, meaning they must not be all that good.

Wow, that's hard to believe. However, I doubt it's because of business practices and more likely some rules violations here. I've used them for only a few months but they have been good as well as having a good reputation elsewhere. I bought a domain portfolio that had some names there, which is why I have an account there.

OT: If the op doesn't want to use them then the best bet would be to stay at Namecheap and use the privacy code I posted above since he needs privacy.

    Not necessarily.

That's the main reason someone receives a censor here, but it takes some serious or repeated rules issues to reach that point.

Free domains and hosting are discussed at Freewebhostingtalk.com...but personally I'd stay away from free domains; they're not reliable, and tld domains come very cheap these days.
