Some even want me to appraise their domain names for China. Let me teach you how I am able to quickly answer questions about Chinese domain names and find their meanings.
First, let me set the record straight: I'm not a natural expert in Chinese domain names. In fact, when I was growing up in Hong Kong, I disliked Chinese literature because I failed to see how it could relate to my life.

For example, news from January 12th reported on the sale of BY.com and included four meanings of “BY” in Chinese.
Using news reports, I enter the date, keyword, and Chinese meaning of the domain name into the list. Sometimes, I also include the English translation, as in the example below.
If you look at each translation, you'll notice that each letter in the English pair corresponds to one Chinese character. So, I also break down the name into individual letters, such as:

This is the primary method that I use to build my Chinese domain name knowledge database (“the list”). I have also written a simple computer program to make it easy to store and retrieve the information that the list contains.
