I think that the new gTLD registries can adjust the pricing of what are considered premium domains. However it may have been just an error in pricing. A lot of "premium" domain names have been held back by some registries for auction so that the registries can make more than the average registration fee from these potentially valuable domain names. Some of the registries have announced their intentions of increasing prices on some of their gTLDs but the $1000 figure looks rather odd.

lol. Yeah that's is an extreme amount of money for a renewal. Unless I was a billionaire and could afford it and was making billions from my website.

But yes I'd be moving my domain to another registrar.

    This may be an error.

i tried to transfer the domain to name.com but godaddy rejected the transfer because i have changed the contact info within the last 60 days.
the domain will expire in 30/5/2016 , so it will be less than 60$ days to be able to transfer to another registry
i have called them and they said that maybe the registry of .boutique want to take this domain in this price so you need to pay 1000$ or leave it !
after that i have called them again and some agent told me that you may try to undo the transfer to the old account and check if the price back again to 40$ "and i can't guarantee this!".
now i am waiting for my friend to have his email account to send undo email to godaday because i am not the owner for the old godaddy account

anybody had the same issue before ?

    Thanks.

I think you should maybe double check on that price because it really does seem to be way out there, doesn't sound reasonable at all.
