The results of the recent Nominet non-executive director elections are in, and Volker Greimann has been elected in this years election.

Volker has been involved in the ICANN policy making process for a number of years, and works for large European registrar Key Systems GmbH. He said in his election statement that he owns no .uk domains at all, so his interest in becoming involved with Nominet came as a surprise to many.
In his election statement he said "Nominet needs to be perceived as an independent arbiter of the public interest in the public eye, sufficiently reactive to changing needs and dependably constant when faced with temporary demands. Any changes enacted by Nominet should first and foremost be designed to meet or address an actual need instead of being seen as giving in to outside pressure"

Volkers experience with gTLD domains could come in handy as Nominet is seeking to increase it's registry functions to manage gTLDs as well as .uk.
